Drakes in League now give up to 3000 gold worth of stats

It can’t be denied that League of Legends underwent massive changes with the durability update, but one of the following patches flew under the radar.

Following the durability patch, Riot Games spent another two months trying to rebalance the game. Now heading into Worlds, they are still trying to do the same. But one patch that brought many changes went under the radar. Patch 12.14 was a big one, and yet many casual League players didn’t recognize his impact on the game.

Bot lane wins games

With the update, all drakes became harder to kill but also did less damage. Junglers felt this the most since not even Shyvana could now kill the first drake alone. That means bot lane matters more now, not just because enchanters are overpowered. With the focus on late-game team fights, ADCs became the most important role in the game. And that’s not the only reason.

How to win in League of Legends

In League of Legends, your champion’s base stats increase every time you level up. A lot of League players know this but understand the true impact of this. When all those bonus stats are added up, they give around 2000 gold worth of stats, depending on how well your champion scales. That’s why pro players have always said that getting kills doesn’t matter as much if you are not farming. Levels and gold mean so much more than getting kills.

Drakes are free wins

When the Drakes in League got tankier, they also got more rewarding. Since it’s harder to slay the neutral objective, it makes sense that it should give a bigger prize. Here is how that works out after patch 12.14.

Cloud Drake gold value

Cloud Drakes now give 7/14/21/28 bonus movement speed and slow resistance to everyone on the team, depending on how many you have slayed. For one Cloud Drake slayed, you get around 550 gold value in terms of stats, which are 7 movement speed and 7 slow resistance. If you multiply that by five players on your team, now your team has around 3000 gold worth of stats advantage. Do you understand how overpowered that is? You move faster everywhere on the map, you can dodge abilities to save your life, and enemies can’t slow you down to get in range. So many little things that help you win the game.

Other Drakes gold value

Here are the stats and gold values all the other drakes give:

Hextech Drake 9/18/27/36 ability haste 9/18/27/36 attack speed 465 gold worth of ability haste and attack speed per one champion, for each drake slayed 2300 gold worth of stats across the team for one drake slayed
Mountain Drake 9/18/27/36 armor 9/18/27/36  magic resist If you have 100 armor and magic resist when the drake is slayed, you get 340 gold worth of stats per champion 700 gold worth of stats for one Mountain drake slain, if you have 200 ARMR (tanks)
Infernal Drake 6 / 12 / 18 / 24% bonus attack damage 6 / 12 / 18 / 24%

bonus ability power

If you have 100 AD or AP, you get 340 gold worth of stats per champion Depending on your champion, you might get even more value

Ocean Drake’s values are hard to calculate since regenerating 3% of missing health per five seconds are unique to every champion. Tanks will get more value when compared to other classes, but numbers will vary because of runes, builds, and passive abilities among others.
