BetBoom qualify for Riyadh Masters 2023

DreamLeague S20 is about to end. There are only two more matches left to be played but BetBoom Team have already qualified for Riyadh Masters 2023 thanks to winning the upper bracket Final against PSG.LGD.

Given that the top two teams get invited to the $15 million event, they can now relax and try to play their best in the Grand Final. The result will still matter because of the prize offered to the winner: $300.000. The runner-up gets just $175.000.

BetBoom’s run at DreamLeague S20

BetBoom looked strong from the start of the tournament, but not invincible. They finished stage 1 with a record of 3 W – 2 D – 2 L. The two teams that managed to beat them were beastcoast and 9Pandas.

The teams they defeated were far stronger: Team Aster, Shopify Rebellion, and Gaimin Gladiators. There’s a high chance that they will play against Gladiators again in the Grand Final.

In stage 2, BetBoom started with five consecutive victories and then lost the last two matches. Once again, they were defeated by 9Pandas. The other team that beat them was Talon Esports.

Fortunately for BetBoom, in the tiebreaker for 2^nd place that followed, they managed to defeat Gaimin Gladiators and started the playoffs in the upper bracket. Their opponent was PSG.LGD, who had won stage 2 with a record of 6 W – 1 L.

The upper bracket Final was an absolute masterclass. BetBoom won game 1 in 26 minutes and game 2 in just 32. For the first game, they picked Morphling and Tidehunter. For the second one, they picked the Tidehunter plus Techies combo that had destroyed Morphling before.

As expected, their picks proved to be very effective in winning the lanes and that resulted in a snowball. Both games were dominated by BetBoom from start to finish.

In game 1, the CIS team had an almost 5000 gold advantage at the 10-minute mark. In game 2, the advantage was above 5000 gold at this critical point. The kill score was 23-2, which is a clear sign of a stomp. BetBoom should have admitted defeat after the first 15 minutes but they were stubborn enough to continue for another 15.

This is the first time in 2023 that we see BetBoom performing at their best at an international tournament. The only problem is that the action takes place online. On LAN, BetBoom are still an unconfirmed team.
