The third series of the Champion of Champions Tour North Europe concluded yesterday with the 2-1 Grand Final victory of Astralis over the Russian team Aurora. With this victory, the Danish powerhouse broke Aurora’s long win streak of 15 wins in official matches.

Aurora didn’t lose for a long time, specifically, since October 2022. Viktor “Lack1” Boldyrev’s team has been dominating the Tier 2 CS:GO scene for over four months, winning 15 straight matches before the loss against Astralis. During that winning streak, Aurora won the CCT South Europe Series 2 and although the team ultimately lost to Astralis in the Series 3 Grand Final, they still made quite a splash.

Astralis and Aurora in top form

Not attending IEM Katowice 2023, Astralis are undoubtedly happy to win the CCT. While 2022 was sluggish year for the Danes, they seem to be in good form this year. The team successfully qualified for the BLAST Premier Spring Final via the recent Spring Groups tournament to start this year with a success. Moreover, thanks to the victory in the CCT North Europe Series 3, they are prepared for the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 17.

Last year Astralis had a slump which resulted in the team not making the invites for the ESL World Rankings and as a result were unable to attend IEM Katowice.

Aurora dominated until the final

Aurora started their participation in the CCT North Europe Series in the Swiss Group Stage, while Astralis were invited straight to the Round of 16. Aurora fought valiantly, defeating everyone including teams such as Sangal, Endpoint, MOUZ NXT, HAVU, and Bad news Eagles to reach the Grand Final.

On their way up in the Round of 16, Astralis defeated 9INE, EYEBALLERS, and Copenhagen Flames, before landing in the Grand Final.
