Team Ninja have quietly dropped a new update for their action-RPG Rise of the Ronin. The last major patch was update 1.003.001 which dropped on April 10, 2024. While the update looks minor, it most likely includes several bug fixes and updates from prior patches.
However, Team Ninja has yet to officially patch notes for this latest update. But let us see what this new patch could solve from the changes in the prior v1.03 and v1.02 revisions, respectively.
Previous Patch Notes
Rise of the Ronin v1.02 patch fixed the following issues:
- Fixed a problem where obtained skills or developed technology could be lost. This update will return lost items to players affected by this issue.
- Fixed completion time tracking issues for some in-game activities (Cat Concierge, Pilgrim Dog, Gardening in the Longhouse) that were counting on completion even when the game was off.
- Fixed technical issues such as characters and horses falling to the floor, enemies being invincible in battle and weapon and model disappearance.
- Fixed a bug when some equipment could not be selected in “Redesign.”
The v1.03 update followed these fixes and introduced some new features:
- Fixed an issue where players have been redirected to Yokohama after online multiplayer sessions instead of back to Edo. Any stored data experiencing this issue will be fixed when the update is applied.
- Fixed a bug where treasure chests in some locations (like the Chiba Dojo and Military Academy in Edo) opened before being found which affected collection rates.
- Fixed a bug which made the rifle useless when switching between several secondary weapons when using the rifle. This issue will also be addressed for saved data.
Potential Improvements in Update 1.003.001
As noted in the patch notes above, Update 1.003.001 for Rise of the Ronin may focus more on stability issues and resolving any remaining bugs or glitches. Areas for improvement include:
- Continued fixes for skill/technology loss and restoration issues; – Enhancements to in-game activity completion times – Sorting out character / object sinking, enemy invincibility, and weapon / model disappearance issues; – Resolving other selection or “Redesign” issues with other equipment.
- Seamless transition from online multiplayer to the main game world;
- Fixing any other minor bugs or inconsistencies reported by players
Though official patch notes are still unavailable, Team Ninja clearly has refinement in mind for the entire Rise of the Ronin player experience. Even a small update is arguably another good step in the right direction.
Future Updates and Support
Since its launch in late March 2024, Rise of the Ronin has had its fair share of early problems with players blaming a range of technical issues and performance issues. But the developers have since moved in and sent a series of updates fast to resolve those problems.
The game has certainly become more stable and performant with each patch but there is certainly room for tweaking and optimization nonetheless. Players can hopefully look forward to Update 1.003.001 and subsequent updates further polishing what they’ve achieved so far.
Still to be seen however is exactly what other tweaks and content Team Ninja has in store for the future as the game keeps on developing. Rise of the Ronin is a title to look out for for Action RPG fans, with the creator still working on the title in the future.
