Ubisoft is preparing for the release of its free FPS – game XDefiant. As part of preparation for the global release, the company has revealed the dates for the next XDefiant server test session. The test will take place from 19 April to 21 April 2024 – providing players a three-day grace period.

Open to the Public Across Platforms

(69)

The XDefiant server test session is open to the public and will feature players from PS5, PlayStation Series X S and PC. The test client is already preloaded so players can get into the action from the moment the test starts on April 19.

How to Differentiate the Server Test from Previous Betas

(70)

While previous XDefiant beta tests have been held, this server test session will not use the old client from those tests. Ubisoft has explained that this is a separate “product” called XDefiant which will eventually be the final launch title of the game. Download the new server test client for players who participated in the previous betas to participate in this upcoming event.

Exclusive Rewards for Participants

(71)

During the XDefiant server test session, players will also be able to collect special rewards. These are: MP5 Shamrock Weapon Skin for playing the test, M9 Ember Weapon Skin for playing in a group and three Weapon XP Boosters for leveling up. All these rewards will appear in the final product or service once it launches, acting as another incentive for gamers to get involved in the server test.

The Long-Awaited Return of XDefiant

(72)

It’s been nearly a year since the last play test, so it has been much anticipated by the XDefiant community. Some players report feeling nervous about the game’s future after hours of silence and few updates. Yet, we take this server test session as a positive step forward as it suggests Ubisoft is preparing the game for a launch.

How Does It Compare with the Call of Duty Franchise

(73)

XDefiant is a first person shooter compared to the Call of Duty series with its fast-paced twitch based gameplay and mil sim feel. Additionally, it guarantees a departure from the standard Call of Duty experience with features like ping based matchmaking instead of skill based matchmaking (SBMM) – a contentious subject in the Call of Duty world.

Player Feedback to Shape the Final Product

(74)

Though release information continue to be scarce, this particular server testing session will shed light on how the game is developing. It means players will get to experience the maps and any tweaks to the gameplay mechanics since the last play test – which left some players conflicted. With the server test being a key stage before the game launches, the XDefiant community are eager to get back in the action and give some feedback on the final product.

Downloadable Content and Client Preparation

(75)

Players will need to download the dedicated “XDefiant – server test Session” client for their platforms to take part in the XDefiant Server Test session. The client is available on PC via the Ubisoft Connect platform, and for PS5 and PS Series X S, via the respective digital storefronts. Players should load the client ahead of time for a smooth experience during the test.

Cross-Progression and Rewards Carryover

(76)

A note for players to note is that any achievements or achievements gained during the XDefiant server test session will transfer to the final product upon release. That means the exclusive weapon skins and XP boosters earned from the test will be available in the full game – a reason for players to sign up and give the developers some feedback.

Stress Testing the Servers

(77)

This particular server testing session is largely an Ubisoft attempt to test the game’s infrastructure to find out if it can handle the large influx of gamers expected during the event. The developer has said that ‘melting the servers will allow them to gather data and make adjustments in time for the global launch. This server test will be a key determinant of when XDefiant will finally release.
