European RMR A finished with quite a few upsets. Natus Vincere did not disappoint, but a lot of other teams did. One of them was FaZe Clan. Despite entering the qualifier as the strongest competitor in CS:GO, FaZe crumbled under the pressure and it wasn’t because of the match format.

FaZe won both of their best-of-one matches. Winning a best-of-three should have been relatively easy and they had three opportunities to do it! But they simply weren’t able to do it. Other teams, such as Virtus.pro, Sprout, and 1win did even worse and got eliminated early.

Key results

With their 3 W – 0 L record, Na’Vi confirmed what some of us already knew. That their new roster is now ready to conquer the world again. It took a while to integrate Andrij “npl” Kukharsjkyj, but he is starting to play at his full potential and the results are impressive.

In European RMR A, Na’Vi didn’t win as Fnatic did. They had to beat strong teams like Team Falcons and FaZe Clan to claim the number one spot. Meanwhile, Fnatic only had to compete against tier-two teams to secure a Legend Status spot at the Paris Major.

Many teams did surprisingly well in the qualifier. For instance, GamerLegion, Into The Breach, Bad News Eagles, and Apeks weren’t regarded as being among the top favorites. But that didn’t prevent them from qualifying for the Major. And they did it by beating very strong opponents along the way.

For FaZe Clan and Falcons, there’s only one last chance to qualify. And unfortunately, there will be six teams in the tournament that decides the winner. This makes it hard to say for certain that FaZe Clan will claim the 17th European ticket for the Major. It should happen, because they’re a formidable team. But they might fail.

For Sprout and Virtus.pro, the tournament ended. And it’s quite strange to see VP failing to qualify for a CS:GO Major with the same roster that won the previous one just six months ago. It’s almost unexplainable how the game and its teams manage to change so fast.

In Sprout’s case, their roster is in desperate need of improvement. Ismail “refrezh” Ali left just six months after joining the organization. He joined Evil Geniuses and left Sprout in a really bad situation. Without some high-quality transfers, there is little chance for them to play at a CS:GO Major this year.
