VALORANT esports head is facing backlash from EMEA fans
In a recent statement, Leo Faria, the Global Head of Valorant Esports, shared that there are plans to reveal updates about the 2024 season in the coming weeks. The early release of the OFF//SEASON announcement has sparked anticipation. With over 40 events now made public, Faria is looking forward to sharing more details soon.
We have several updates on the 2024 season lined up for the next several weeks! The OFF//SEASON announcement went live a bit earlier than planned, but now that you’ve all seen it, I’m excited to share that we have 40+ events planned for this year! More to come.…

However, He faced significant backlash from the fanbase on Reddit. This was prompted by a lighthearted remark he made in response to a question by NRG Ardiss about the limited number of major events in Europe.
EMEA will spend the offseason polishing their trophies apparently 🙃

Fans believe it was quite an unprofessional reply from the Global head of Valorant Esports. A fan suggested that Leo Faria consider taking a PR course, noting that at times, his responses come across as ironic and poorly executed. This, they pointed out, could inadvertently lead to an entire region harboring negative feelings. The fan expressed the view that someone in Faria’s position should avoid making banter if it has the potential to create such outcomes.
Leo Faria clarified his stance
Following the criticism, Leo Faria provided clarification. He explained that the joke was about the EMEA region winning many events this year. He pointed out that there are already 9 events scheduled across EMEA, which is more than last year. He expressed excitement about this development.
Come on folks, the joke is about EMEA winning everything this year. There are literally 9 events across EMEA announced so far, which is already more than last year! It’ll be awesome!

According to many observers, the significant downtime is a major factor causing numerous teams to exit the tier-two VALORANT scene. The absence of events to participate in makes it impractical to maintain a team.
Consequently, a large number of professional players and staff members find themselves jobless, leading to an unstable situation for aspiring pros aiming to advance and establish their own reputations.
