The most expensive roster in Counter-Strike: 2 has been defeated by Asia’s powerhouse squad. The Falcons are sent to the drawing board to get things straight for their next match.

Earlier this month, five-time Major winner dupreeh made a huge move to join his former comrades, Magisk and zonic, at Team Falcons. The new iteration of the MENA-backed squad is brimming with experience but lacks a star player.

The Falcons’ first gig was against TheMongolZ. Though the Mongolians aren’t bad, Snappi and company were expected to win the series without too much trouble. However, that was not what happened.

Map 1 – Mirage

Dupreeh’s first official match representing the Falcons organization was set for Mirage, his opponents’ map pick.

TheMongolZ were off to an explosive start on the Terrorist side, winning the first four rounds. Team Falcons could retaliate, thinking they would sweep the remainder of the map. However, the Mongols did not slow down, taking the first half with a dominant 9-3 scoreline.

The Asian squad won the second pistol round and the map 13-3 to spoil the Dane’s debut map. Still, dupreeh was the team’s top performer on Mirage and the only player from Team Falcons to net a positive rating.

Map 2 – Nuke

The power plant was easily the most comfortable pick for the Falcons, which is why they have selected it as the second map. SunPayus, Magisk, and Maden led the charge on the Falcons’ Terrorist-side campaign, taking a 7-5 lead.

Despite being the new kid on the block, dupreeh did not want his teammates to outdo him and displayed an impeccable Counter-Terrorist performance to push his team to a 13-9 victory on their map pick. It looked like the Falcons were back, but disaster ensued.

Map 3 – Ancient

On the decisive map, Ancient, TheMongolZ showcased Asian Counter-Strike’s chaotic gameplay, taking an early 7-1 lead. Dupreeh and Masigk were the only players to plug in their keyboards and mice in the first half, as the remaining Falcons members were missing. TheMongolZ ended the half with an 8-4 lead.

SunPayus and Maden finally woke up, helping dupreeh attempt to salvage the game. Unfortunately, the European squad got their gears going too late, as TheMongolZ could close the map 13-11 and win the series.

What Did We Learn From This Match?

Dupreeh continues to show why he is the most successful player in Counter-Strike history. Despite his old age, dupreeh was still the highest performer in the Falcons squad, and his fragging power remains top tier.

However, most of the criticism was directed at Snappi, the in-game leader of Team Falcons. The Dane went 20-48 in the series, going -28 in K-D difference and having a rating of 0.56. The 33-year-old went 4-20 in the close 11-13 loss on Ancient, meaning one or two extra kills could have made the difference.

Still, the Falcons are not out of the tournament yet. They will have a chance to redeem themselves in their coming match against TYLOO, the weakest team in the tournament. If zonic’s boys show struggle against the Chinese squad, eyebrows will definitely be raised.
