After the last day of the LEC Spring Split 2023 Regular Season, Team BDS continue with a spectacular level of play and finish as the leaders of this phase. In addition to that, EXCEL Esports and Team Heretics were sent home after MAD Lions beat the Spanish team in the tiebreaker.

This means that the Regular Season is over, and we now know the eight teams that will be part of the Group Stage of the LEC Spring Split 2023. Next, we will show how the teams will be formed for the Group Stage.

Group A

  • Astralis
  • Fnatic
  • MAD Lions
  • Team Vitality

Group B

  • G2 Esports
  • KOI
  • SK Gaming
  • Team DBS

Let’s look at what happened on the last day of the LEC Spring Split 2023 Regular Season.

TEAM BDS top Regular Season by beating EXCEL Esports

Unexpectedly, Team BDS won the regular phase of the LEC Spring Split. The Adam “Adam” Maanane-charged squad managed another victory over EXCEL Esports to take the top spot in this spring’s regular division.

Like many others, Adam’s hard work helped BDS win this battle. The French toplaner dominated the contest and took an admirable victory over the experienced Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu. However, on the map, the one-on-one advantage made a significant difference, and Team BDS did not hesitate to decide the game and secure first place.

Astralis crush Fnatic and secure second place in the standings

The last day of the regular phase saw a thrilling match. In addition, both teams proved that they are among the teams currently in the best form in the LEC. After overcoming a lead of more than 5,000 gold in favor of Fnatic, Astralis came out on top and made an excellent comeback. The Danes continue to be a team to talk about, and this victory ensures they finish the regular season in second place.

As we mentioned, Astralis had a very impressive comeback with Adam “LEADER” Ilyasov and his Zed, one of his signature characters, at full potential. Although Fnatic had excellent control of the game, they relaxed, and Astralis ended up eliminating the gold gap and winning.

Team Heretics beat SK Gaming in hopes of qualification

At the day’s halfway point, The Heretics defeated SK Gaming and helped force a tiebreaker in the table.

The Spanish organization held a crucial match until the end of the day. In this match, a spectacular Marcin “Jankos” Jankowsky and Lee “Ruby” Sol-min destroyed SK Gaming. However, despite winning, Team Heretics depended on the result of the match between MAD Lions and G2 Esports to continue with the dream of qualifying for the Group Stage.

G2 Esports crush MAD Lions and help Team Heretics

Team Heretics received help from their old friends from G2 Esports, and the samurai helped their former leader, Jankos, by defeating MAD Lions in their showdown.

G2 hit MAD Lions hard and added a couple of extra hours to Team Heretics’ agony, as this victory resulted in a tiebreaker match between MAD Lions and Heretics. On the other hand, it is worth noting that G2 repeated the same old strategies and humiliated the Lions in the rematch of the winter final.

With this crushing victory, the reigning Winter Split champions finish in third place with a 6-3 record.

Team Vitality give no truce and defeat KOI

Team Vitality scored a crushing victory in their final regular season performance to maintain their lead over KOI in the standings. As a result, Team Vitality earned a Top 4 place in the standings.

Zhou “Bo” Yangbo had a complete read on Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong’s intentions. In effect, Team Vitality’s Chinese jungler prevailed in the Asian jungler duel, moving his team into the top four of the regular season. On the other hand, KOI ended a challenging regular phase with terrible feelings, as they could not stop Team Vitality’s attacks.

Tiebraker Match: Team Heretics vs. MAD Lions

In the playoff match, we saw an exemplary performance by MAD Lions to take the win over Team Heretics and claim the eighth and final spot for the Group Stage.

MAD Lions managed to crush a somewhat weak Team Heretics, thanks to the performance of Javier “Elyoya” Prades and Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság. This pair of players managed to stop the comeback that Team Heretics was trying to make at some point in the match.

There is no doubt that Team Heretics tried from start to finish, but MAD Lions were so much better than them in this playoff match. Also, this will be the first time in a long time that Jankos will have such an early bye in a LEC Split.
