The news about the ending partnership between Riot Games and Prime Gaming marks a significant change for players of popular games like “League of Legends” and “VALORANT.”

The partnership, which offered monthly Riot title loot drops to Prime Gaming members, is set to conclude in March 2024. This decision was confirmed by Riot Games on December 14, with the statement that Prime Gaming has chosen not to renew the promotion.

Players who have already unlocked content through Prime Gaming drops can rest assured that this content will remain on their accounts. Anna Donlon, Riot’s senior vice president and the lead for VALORANT, expressed that the team is looking into alternative ways to reward players for their engagement and gameplay.

The partnership has been beneficial for players of both “VALORANT” and “League of Legends,” offering various in-game items like gun buddies, player cards, sprays, and Prime Gaming Capsules containing RP, skins, ward skins, and other consumables.

It’s important to note that the termination of this partnership doesn’t necessarily mean these items will disappear forever. The initial partnership was reportedly supposed to end at the close of 2022 but was extended to February 16, 2023, for the final capsule claims. Further negotiations led to more capsules and drops being available throughout 2023.

Riot publicizing the end of the current deal might be a strategic move to gauge public reaction and potentially influence Prime Gaming’s decision. With several months remaining before the deal’s expiration, there’s still a possibility for both parties to return to the negotiating table. This situation highlights the dynamic nature of partnerships in the gaming industry and how they can impact the player experience.
