After many years away from the competitive scene of League of Legends in NA, Hai “Hai” Du Lam returns to what was his home for several years, Cloud9, as the new Team Manager.

There is no doubt that this is great news for everyone and, above all, for team fans, as seeing one of the legends returning home excites anyone. However, his role will be a little less flashy than before, as he will now be the Team Manager of Cloud9’s LoL division in the LCS.

This becomes Hai’s first foray into an LCS organization since leaving Golden Guardians at the end of 2018.

Cloud9 announce Hai as new LoL Team Manager

Through a post on its LinkedIn account, Cloud9 announced hiring veteran and gaming legend Hai “Hai” Du Lam as the new Team Manager of its LoL division. However, the fact that C9 announced this via LinkedIn caused many fans to learn of this news several hours later.

The former LoL player, who is now 31 years old, was one of the most important and innovative “shotcallers” in the early days of the LCS. Recall that Hai led Cloud9 to win many championships, including IEM San Jose 2014. In addition, Hai played in C9 as a mid-laner, support, and jungler.

On the other hand, remember that Hai teamed up with LCS legends such as William “Meteos” Hartman and Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi. However, when they were together, they could not succeed in all the tournaments they participated in. Similarly, they starred in two LCS championship victories and qualified 3 times for Worlds.

Hai leaves C9 in 2017

After several years in the organization, Hai left C9 in 2017 to play with FlyQuest and finally ended his pro career in 2018 with Golden Guardians.

At that time, specifically in 2019, the American decided to create his esports org, which he named Radiance, and was the CEO until his announcement as Team Manager of C9.

Radiance has not made it to the top in the LoL competitive scene. However, he did compete in several Proving Grounds tournaments.

There is no doubt that the current C9 players will be able to learn a lot from Hai for their great journey in the coming days. Remember that Cloud9 will play Worlds 2023 in South Korea starting October 19, 2023.
