With more than $666 million in revenue since its global launch on June 6, Diablo 4 has shattered all sales records for Blizzard Entertainment.

It’s no surprise that Diablo IV has grown to be one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year given the gap of more than ten years since the last major release. According to Activision, Diablo 4 has garnered the highest pre-launch sales on both consoles and PC, making it the fastest-selling Blizzard Entertainment game of all time.

Diablo IV sold more than $666 million in the first five days after its June 6 release, shattering the previous record set by Blizzard. This is based on the number of units sold across all platforms within the first five days following the game’s global launch. Despite Diablo 4’s spectacular market performance, Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t provided any exact sales figures. World of Warcraft used to be Blizzard’s fastest-selling PC game after the release of Shadowlands.

Despite a rough start, Diablo 4 is off to a solid start

Despite having a large and well-known library of games, like World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Overwatch, Blizzard has experienced challenges with the debuts of several of its titles, with the most recent being the problems with the Overwatch 2 launch.

Compared with past titles, Diablo 4 had a smooth game launch Diablo 4’s launch but it didn’t go without problems either. Several PS5 gamers were unable to connect to the servers shortly after the early access launch period because of a licensing issue. The title’s servers completely crashed on June 8, forcing the creator to issue an apology.

Diablo 4 receives an overwhelming response

Together with the sales milestone, Activision Blizzard also made several fun statistics available about Diablo 4. Since its June 1 early access launch, Diablo 4 has racked up over 276 million hours of playtime, according to Blizzard, illustrating the game’s huge appeal and engagement among its global player base. There have already been 316,991,632 deaths registered in the game. 429,792 were caused by other players in PvP encounters, whereas 5,792,063 were caused by The Butcher himself.

The data also showed that 6,263 players have attained level 100 and that 166,000,960 parties have been staged by players since the game’s debut. Despite Diablo 4’s phenomenal early success, Blizzard must continue post-launch support with regular updates and fresh content to keep the player base engaged. The Diablo franchise, however, has a bright future considering Blizzard’s track record of delivering top-notch games and the game’s incredible early response.
