The popular North American organization, Complexity Gaming, has decided not to renew the contract with its CS:GO assistant coach, Anton “AntO_oNNNNN” Van Gorp, who had been with the team since the 2019 season.

Complexity Gaming has been present in the CS:GO scene for many years and is known for having been home to great players such as Marcelo “coldzera” David, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, Justin “jks” Savage, and many more players. However, the team could not maintain a powerful and consistent lineup over the past few years.

With the departure of AntO_oNNNN, the organization hopes to get a new assistant coach to freshen up some strategies within the team to elevate its competitive level for the remainder of the 2023 season.

AntO_oNNNNN announces his departure from Complexity Gaming

Through a statement via his Twitter account, AntO_oNNNNN announced that he was leaving the North American organization after four years. This news comes just after the team had a disappointing run at the Paris Major, finishing with a 1-3 record in the Challengers Stage.

The Belgian said he is grateful to Complexity for making him feel at home for the past four years. He also thanks all the staff he worked with throughout his time with the organization and the 17 players he managed on the team.

Complexity has had an inconsistent year

The first five months of 2023 have been a real roller coaster ride for Complexity Gaming. At the beginning of the year, the team started solidly and climbed to eighth place in the world rankings after excellently participating in IEM Katowice 2023. However, as the weeks went by, the level of the team varied in such a way that the results were not as expected.

The level of the team has been so irregular since their great performance in Katowice that they are currently ranked 24th in the world. For example, the team finished in last place in the ESL Pro League S17; they were eliminated very early in the ESL Challenger Melbourne. Finally, the team managed to qualify for the Paris Major, but they finished among the last places after a 1-3 record in the Challengers Stage.

About AntO_oNNNN

There is no doubt that, since AntO_oNNNNN’s arrival at Complexity Gaming in 2019, he became a key pillar for the organization’s CS:GO lineup. Thanks to his extensive knowledge and experience in the scene, he was promoted to Assistant Coach in mid-2020.

The lineup was composed of purely North American players in its early days. However, as the seasons passed, the organization signed talents such as the Danish, blameF, with whom AntO_oNNNN adapted perfectly.

During his time at Complexity, the team has achieved great growth in the scene, as his knowledge and guidance have served the development of great players. In addition, his expertise in the scene was reflected in the team’s participation in two Majors, the PGL Major Antwerp and the Paris Major.

Now, it only remains to be seen what will be the new home of this experienced coach in the competitive CS:GO scene.
