The Brazy Party is over, and after a really exciting Grand Final, Cloud9 managed to take the 2-1 victory over Astralis to proclaim themselves champions of the tournament. In addition, C9 takes home a juicy $133,000 prize.

In recent times, reverse sweep victories have become extremely constant, and this match between Astralis vs. Cloud9 was certainly a vivid example of that. Losing the first map of a series makes teams wake up and unleash their full potential in the rest of the matches.

This victory undoubtedly reaffirms that Cloud9 is living a very good moment this season, 2023. In addition to finishing second place in the ESL Pro League S17, the team won the BetBoom Playlist. Urbanistic and finished between 3rd and 4th place in the IEM Rio 2023. Unfortunately, however, the team did not qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major, so they will have some time these weeks to plan the rest of the season.

Cloud9 apply a reverse sweep to beat Astralis and become Brazy Party Champions

Cloud9 continues to prove their high level in regional tournaments with a reverse sweep in the Brazy Party Grand Final to defeat Astralis and become tournament champions.

Undoubtedly, they were justly deserving of the trophy, as they worked for eight days to achieve it and, most importantly for them, they won all the matches they played. First, in the group stage, they finished in Group D with a 2-0 record. Then, in the playoffs, they crushed SAW 2-0 in the quarterfinals and applied another reverse sweep against OG in the semifinals.

The Brazy Party Grand Final between Astralis and Cloud9 was played at Overpass (Astralis), Vertigo (Cloud9), and Inferno (decider).

Overpass

The series started on Astralis’ map pick, Overpass, and the Danes displayed a spectacular level of play led, once again, by Benjamin “blameF” Bremer. blameF has proved that the decision to leave him in the team’s starting lineup was right.

Astralis started the game very strong on the T side, winning the first half with a solid 10-5. We all know how tricky Overpass tends to be on the T-side, but, Astralis proved quite the opposite. As the sides switched sides, the Danish dominance extended so much that they managed to win the first six rounds to take a crushing 16-5 victory.

Vertigo

We move to Vertigo, Cloud9’s map pick, where the boys from the CIS region begin to unfold their full potential. First, with a spectacular collective game and all players with a +1.00 Rating, Cloud9 took a partial victory of 9-6 on their T-side.

Then, at the change of sides, they returned the blow received by Astralis in the first map and won seven of the eight rounds played to take a comfortable victory by 16-7 and thus equalize the Grand Final by 1-1.

Inferno

Finally, we came to Inferno, the map defining the tournament champion. Unlike the first two maps, we observed a total balance in Inferno. However, Cloud9 managed, with the help of Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, to take a partial victory by 9-6.

Switching sides, Astralis managed to win the first three rounds on the T-side, which evened the score at the time at 9-9. Then, however, Cloud9’s defense tightened up, and they managed to win six consecutive rounds to take a 15-9 lead. The Danish side tried to react and won the next three rounds to go 12-15, it was not enough, and they lost 16-12.
