23savage becomes the first 13k MMR Dota 2 player

Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon has long been known to be one of the best Dota 2 players of his generation. Aged just 20, this man has just become the first ever to reach 13.000 MMR.

Consider the fact that players become Divine at 4620 MMR and you will understand just how much better 23savage is compared to the typical Divine-tier player. Even if you compare him to the top Immortal players, most of them have an MMR of around 10.000. At 13.000, he is vastly better even than many of the pro players.

About 23savage and his potential

23savage is the typical pub star who has invested at least 20.000 hours into developing his Dota 2 skills. And since 2019, he has also been competing professionally for teams like Fnatic, Vici Gaming, T1, and Talon Esports.

23savage is very strong for the Southeast Asian region but the question remains: would he have reached 13.000 MMR on the European servers, against the best Dota 2 players in the world?

Another interesting question that we can ask is this: how much longer will he play in SEA? After all, his English is quite good and he could easily join just about any organization he wanted.

If he goes to any of the top European teams, he will boost them tremendously. And if he goes to the ones that struggle to reach the top, their chances would increase dramatically. So why is he playing for Talon Esports, a relatively small team with no real chances of winning anything big?

When will 23savage join a top team?

23savage joined Talon in February 2022 and since then, his only significant achievements have been the second place he got in Tour 3 SEA Division I and the participation at The International 11. Where, unfortunately, Talon finished 17th-18th.

Given that he’s almost 21 years old, it’s likely that we will see him competing in SEA for another year or two and then he’ll need to take a risk. Some players hate to travel and it’s certainly challenging. Leaving behind your family and loved ones can be tough.

But at the same time, it’s not possible to build a great career in Dota 2 while playing for a team that’s quite small even regionally. The best Dota in the world is played in Europe and that’s where 23savage needs to go if he wants to truly test himself. This would also provide him the opportunity to win Majors and maybe even The International.

MMR doesn’t mean much if it doesn’t lead to a better contract. In the world of esports, nobody cares how good you are in pubs. You need to win trophies.
