After the surprising failure they had at IEM Katowice, Team Vitality are now just one victory away from qualifying for PGL Major Copenhagen.

In European RMR B, ZywOo and his crew are doing really well. They won the first two matches and because of that, they now have a maximum of three best-of-three series to qualify directly. Winning even one of these series guarantees their spot at the Major.

However, in a worst-case scenario, they will still get one last opportunity to qualify in the Decider Brackets. The likelihood of that happening is pretty low though.

Team Vitality’s Road to PGL Major Copenhagen

Team Vitality entered this qualification tournament with their confidence shattered by the defeats they suffered in IEM Katowice, where they lost two consecutive matches and were eliminated right at the start of the group stage. Finishing 13th – 16th while being ranked 1st globally must feel pretty bad.

But, because the European RMRs for the Copenhagen Major feature lots of teams that aren’t even in the top 10, Vitality’s goal was expected to be relatively easy to achieve. The only thing that could have caused problems was the best-of-one match format.

The team started the competition with a match against GamerLegion, a team that’s currently ranked 18th. It didn’t last very long. The score was 13 – 2 on Nuke. Everyone played well on Vitality’s side, but ZywOo’s individual performance was off-the-charts: 24 – 4 KD / 163.6 ADR / 2.86 rating 2.0.

The next match was played against Heroic. And once again, ZywOo was phenomenal: 25 – 6 / 164.3 / 2.64. This performance allowed Vitality to win the match 13 – 3.

Their next opponent will be Cloud9, and everyone expects them to win the match with ease. After the first two results, it’s clear that Vitality are in great shape and have probably been training hard since returning from Poland.

If they qualify for the Copenhagen Major, and they certainly will, this event will be a great opportunity for them to win their 2nd Major. Keep in mind that Vitality won the last Major in CS:GO, which took place in Paris, and could become the first Major winners in CS2. This kind of performance is guaranteed to make an impression on fans and sponsors alike.

Luckily for Vitality, they managed to avoid Team Spirit at this tournament. And if they win against C9, they will end it with a perfect record.
