Team Liquid start the American RMR for Paris Major with a win

Day 1 of the American RMR for BLAST.tv Paris Major ended well for Team Liquid and most of the other favorites. Only one match was played by each team and the results clearly indicate what we already knew: Liquid and FURIA Esports are likely to finish with perfect records, as long as they don’t run into each other.

Among the teams that lost their first match, Imperial and 00 Nation are the most significant. Both of them are led by legendary players who won together Majors, but at this point they are nowhere near their peak. In the case of 00 Nation, the loss against Liquid was expected. But Imperial should have defeated Evil Geniuses but didn’t.

Day 1 results

The American RMR featured eight matches on the first day. All of them were either tough or completely one-sided. There was no in-between.

The one-sided matches are listed below:

• FURIA Esports vs. LOS + oNe: 16-6
• Team Liquid vs. 00 Nation: 16-4
• paiN Gaming vs. Paqueta Gaming: 16-2

In the remaining matches, the losing team always won at least 10 rounds and in some cases, forced extra rounds.

• BESTIA vs. Nouns Esports: 16-13
• Complexity vs. Team Solid: 16-10
• Fluxo vs. yur: 16-13
• Flamengo Esports vs. MIBR: 22-20
• Evil Geniuses vs. Imperial: 16-12

Day 2 predictions

The second day of the American RMR will have some very interesting matches. The most exciting of them are listed below:

• FURIA vs. EG
• Liquid vs. Flamengo
• Complexity vs. paiN
• MIBR vs. 00 Nation

The favorites are FURIA, Liquid, paiN, and 00 Nation. In Liquid’s case, it’s quite fascinating to see just how much better they play when they are motivated. Or maybe it’s just a matter of how skilled their opponents are.

When Liquid play against European teams, they lose a lot. Or at least, that’s what happened in recent months. But against American teams, with a few exceptions, they don’t have any problems.

The reason why it’s critical for Liquid to finish with a perfect record is that only one team in the race will receive a Legend Status ticket for the Paris Major. Everyone else will need to start the Major in The Challengers Stage, which could prove to be challenging.

Every year, at least one important team fails to survive this stage, which is why the top teams try to stay away from it. Liquid’s main rival for the rest of the American RMR will be FURIA. On day 2, both competitors are likely to win their matches.
