We have reached a point in the 2023 season of the CS:GO competitive scene where players and teams tend to show signs of fatigue, which is certainly normal. In addition, many tier 2 teams usually play more tournaments than tier 1 teams, so they must be playing official matches for a whole day.

That is the case of Monte, one of the revelation teams of this CS:GO season 2023, which has announced that one of its key players, Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev, will take a break from the competitive scene. However, this is not something permanent but rather a decision by the player to regain strength.

At this point, the season will enter a dead season, as only the BLAST Premier Spring Final remains to be played as a top-level tournament. However, Monte’s schedule is very tight, and sdy has decided to take a break.

Monte announces that sdy takes a break from the competitive scene

Through an official statement on their Twitter account, Monte, one of this season’s breakout teams, announced that sdy would be taking a break from the scene for a few weeks. However, the organization has announced this is not definitive, as it will be only for the next tournaments.

There is no doubt that sdy has been one of the cornerstones of this team since he arrived in early 2023. The 26-year-old Ukrainian has the experience to help all his teammates exploit their full capabilities. On the other hand, it is also worth noting that his one-season NaVi experience has been a key factor in Monte’s resurgence in recent months.

While it is true that Monte has not managed to win any Tier 1 tournaments so far, there is no doubt that they are a very battle-hardened team and have shown great determination in recent weeks. If we talk specifically about the Paris Major, the Ukrainian squad gave a pleasant surprise by finishing in 5th-8th place after losing in the Champions Stage against Team GamerLegion.

Sdy has been a key factor in Monte

While it is true that at the beginning, it was a somewhat difficult adaptation period, little by little, sdy got used to playing with his new teammates. Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletnjuk and Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas, despite their young age, have been the ones who have helped sdy the most to reach his best level of play.

As the weeks went by, Monte was increasing his level of play. Finally, after qualifying for the Paris Major, the team won the CCT West Europe Series #2 and Series #3, the CCT Central Europe Series #5, and second place in the CCT Central Europe Series #6. However, having matches in a back-to-back manner and no break in between makes sdy make this decision.

There is also the fact of the age that sdy is, as, unlike his peers who are 18 or 19, sdy is 26, which means more hours accumulated in the game, and no doubt this starts to take its toll after a while.

We all know that sdy will return at his best possible level of play, as the team’s success keeps him highly motivated. On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that Monte has not yet announced who will be sdy’s replacement in the lineup, but they stated that they would soon reveal it.
