CDL Championship 2023 to be played in Las Vegas

While it is true that the Major IV and V champions have yet to be announced, the Call of Duty League has revealed that the season-ending CDL Championship tournament will be played in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Undoubtedly, this is one of North America’s best venues for entertainment, and the top eight CDL teams throughout the season will battle it out to become the season’s overall champions.

Call of Duty League announces 2023 Championship to be played in Las Vegas

Through a statement via its Twitter account and a video via YouTube, the Call of Duty League has confirmed rumors that the CDL Championship 2023 will be played in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As detailed in the post, Championship Weekend will be played June 15-18, 2023, two months from now. In addition, it was announced that the spectacular Thomas & Mack Center UNLV would be in charge of hosting this tournament.

This venue is at the University of Nevada, specifically on the same campus. Moreover, this venue has hosted major sporting events such as some NBA exhibition games and, most notably, without a doubt, the All-Star Game of the 2007 season.

On the other hand, this announcement marks the departure of the CDL Championship from Los Angeles. Since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, all LAN events organized by the CDL have been held in the Californian city.

Format of the CDL Championship 2023

As we know, the CDL Championship is the season-ending event of the Call of Duty League, where the top eight teams of the season meet to fight for the title of champions. The participating teams are decided through the overall CDL leaderboard, where each team scores points for each victory in both the online qualifiers and the Majors.

Now, the teams that qualify for the CDL Championship 2023 will play in an eight-team bracket. The format will be very similar to that used in each of the Majors, with the difference that all eight teams start in the Upper Bracket. As a result, all teams have an equal chance in the tournament, as they will have two chances to stay alive.

Will Las Vegas Legion be able to make their home stand and win the CDL Championship 2023?

The CDL Championship 2022 was won by the Los Angeles Thieves, and they made their home respected, as the tournament was held at the Galen Center.
