Zenless Zone Zero 2.3 Patch Notes: New Region and Events

HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero’s Version 2.3, “Memories of Dreams Bygone,” will launch worldwide. This update expands New Eridu’s world with a new area, three new Agents, new events, upgraded systems, and rewards galore for everyone.

New Area: Timesworn Hills

The update will become available on all servers on October 15 around 11:00 AM UTC+8 for East Asia. Players in the Americas will likely just see the patch arrive later on October 14 local time, due to being in different time zones. Zenless Zone Zero will be supported on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android.

Version 2.3 unlocked Timesworn Hills, a deeper section of the Hollow known for its Lumite ore deposits, abandoned research sites, and ghostly legends. Proxies investigate mysteries such as vanishing miners, phantom bells, hypnotists, and entities that peer into hearts, delivering a darker and more supernatural tone to the story.

The new region also introduces Spook Shack, a faction wrapped in myths and clandestine operations, promising new lore for players.

New Agents & Banner Rotations

Three new Agents from Spook Shack make their debut in Version 2.3:

Lucia (S-Rank, Ether Support): A dream manipulator who can summon Ethereals and build up Dream Points in order to enter a Dream State that increases allied HP, boosts team damage, and triggers Aftershocks. Her signature W-Engine is Dreamlit Hearth.
Yidhari (S-Rank, Ice Rupture): A high-risk, high-reward combatant who uses Ice damage, meaning her Ice attacks always pierce defenses (Sheer DMG) and scale with max HP. Yidhari becomes more powerful as HP drops, rewarding careful gameplay.
Komano Manato (A-Rank, Fire Rupture): A tough Attacker whose Sheer DMG will scale from his max HP. He can also be unlocked for free as well by completing the new event, “When Dreams Remain Unfinished.”

In addition to these new additions, the latest banner rerun has also brought back Vivian (S-Rank Ether Anomaly) and Ju Fufu (S-Rank Fire Stun) giving players a chance to recruit previous favorites. Each new Agent will come with a signature W-Engine designed for their combat role.

New Gameplay Modes, Events, Cosmetics & Rewards

Version 2.3 combines tactical depth with experimentation and offers a new challenge called Threshold Simulation, where players deploy multiple squads through interconnected battles and must manage their resources and positioning to achieve victory. In the Hero Boss event, “When Dreams Remain Unfinished,” players take control of various monsters with special traits and rules about their position on the board; completing this event will unlock the Agent Manato for free. The photography features SNAP. Shining Strike returns with upgrades, such as camera freedom, new filters, frames, as well as the ability to take photos in the Hollow.

Moreover, Soldier 0 – Anby received a mechanical enhancement that unlocked additional latent power and enhanced team-building options.
Vivian’s outfit “Iris of the Shore” becomes available in Version 2.3/2.4. Although it is typically a paid cosmetic, it can be obtained by taking specific actions in-game.
Manato also received a themed alternate outfit based on his Spook Shack role.
All players who log in during Version 2.3 will receive free rewards of 600 Polychromes, 10 Encrypted Master Tapes, and 10 Boopons.

Narrative & Lore Themes

The subtitle “Memories of Dreams Bygone” gives a clear indication that themes such as memory, loss, and dreams will be major themes, lost or forgotten dreams. This theme is a constant across Timesworn Hills’ legends, Lucia’s dreaming abilities as events struck by players’ ability to command monsters, adding a layer of surreality to the overall lore of The Hollow.

We get some teasers from the official site with the imagery of “Three little stars, it’s time to search and find, [the] lonely moon said, [said] she sings in a hollow tree…,” again playing into the theme of the upcoming update.

We already see hints of more content in HoYoverse’s teases of names like Banyue, Dialyn, Zhao, and Ye Shunguang from the promotional hints coming from the forthcoming updates in Version 2.3. The update looks to give more breadth in gameplay choices, narrative depth, and experimentation into combat mechanics available to veteran and new players alike.

Whether you are diving into Timesworn Hills or pulling for Lucia, Yidhari, or Manato, this shaping up to be one of the most memorable updates yet.
