New information from a well-known source is pointing to the possibility that Microsoft and ASUS could be ready to launch the ROG Xbox Ally handheld consoles in October 2025. Even though there is no official word yet, the timing is making it look very possible that Gamescom 2025 will be the moment when the release date is made public.

Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X Rumored Release Date

The ROG Xbox Ally family was first shown back in June during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. There will be two versions, the regular ROG Xbox Ally and the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X. Both are using AMD’s new Ryzen Z2 chips and will offer up to 24GB of RAM. Another talking point is the custom gaming version of Windows 11 they will run on, which is being said to improve both battery life and performance in a noticeable way.

Before now, Microsoft only said the devices would arrive in the holiday season of 2025. Now, insider billbil-kun is claiming the launch will happen on October 16, 2025. They also said pre-orders could start on August 20, which is the opening day of Gamescom 2025. Because Xbox will hold a special livestream on that date, it is quite likely that this is when both the release date and pre-orders are made official.

Expected Price for Both Models

The insider is keeping the same price claims as before. In Europe, the ROG Xbox Ally could cost €599, which is about $700, while the stronger ROG Xbox Ally X might be €899, around $1,050. These numbers make the handhelds more expensive than the current Xbox Series X, which still gives better performance in most games.

Rumored Details:

  • Release Date: October 16, 2025
  • Pre-Order Date: August 20, 2025
  • ROG Xbox Ally Price: €599 (~$700)
  • ROG Xbox Ally X Price: €899 (~$1,050)

If this turns out to be correct, the ROG Xbox Ally could be placed as a premium option for gamers who want to take their Xbox experience outside the living room while still keeping a high level of performance.
