Xbox Games Showcase 2025: All Major Announcements and Reveals

fragster James Steward 9. June 2025

The 2025 edition of Xbox Games Showcase ended up bringing a lot more than what some may have expected. From the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to Xbox’s sudden reveal of its handheld device, there was certainly no shortage of things happening. Some announcements made total sense, others were completely unexpected—but all of it showed how Xbox is trying to push its brand in lots of directions at once. Let’s try going through everything that was revealed.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – War Enters the Mind

Closing out the show, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was finally teased with a cinematic that felt more like a thriller movie. Set in the year 2035, the teaser hints at psychological warfare and deep state operations. They also confirmed Zombies mode will return, and there’s gonna be a co-op campaign. It’s aiming for a darker tone this time, something less explosive but heavier, if that makes sense. It’s definitely got people talking.

Xbox Goes Handheld: ROG Ally and Ally X Unveiled

Now this part was something people really didn’t see coming. Xbox, teaming up with ASUS, introduced the ROG Ally and Ally X—two handhelds designed to play Xbox titles on the go. They’ll support Game Pass, Steam, GOG, and more, according to Sarah Bond. And all games from the showcase, including Silksong, will run on them day one. That’s impressive, but let’s see if these can really keep up once they’re out.

Ninja Gaiden 4 and Grounded 2 Keep the Action Flowing

Koei Tecmo brought back Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden 4, which looked wild and chaotic, maybe even a little too fast at times. The game will release on October 21 for Xbox, PS5, and PC. If you like flashy sword moves and nonstop combat, this is gonna be for you.

Meanwhile, Grounded 2 is back with more bugs, more building, and possibly more danger. This backyard survival sequel launches in Game Preview on July 29, and it’s going bigger this time. Some things about it look fun, others a little familiar, but fans probably won’t mind that.

Outer Worlds 2 Locked in for Fall Release

Obsidian also made a return with Outer Worlds 2. Set in a totally new solar system, the sequel got a trailer showing more of its quirky world and sarcastic tone. The official release date is October 29, 2025. They also said a full Direct would follow the show for more deep-dives into the game. Seems like they have a lot more to show.

More Sequels Join the Line-Up

High on Life 2 was announced without much build-up, and it’s set to release in Winter 2025. It still looks strange in the exact way fans would expect, with colorful visuals and oddball humor.

Another one no one was asking for—but might now want—is Super Meat Boy 3D. The difficult platformer has gone full 3D, and it’s coming early 2026. It’ll launch on Game Pass and probably frustrate people like before, just now in three dimensions.

Atlus came out with a proper reveal for Persona 4 Revival, a remake of the beloved RPG. Coming to Xbox, PS5, and PC, the remake’s visuals look completely new while keeping its roots. Game Pass will carry this one, too.

And Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a follow-up to the haunting original, is coming in 2026. The trailer was emotional and intense, carrying that same mood from the first game. Looks like another dramatic journey is on the way.

Brand New Titles Join the Fight

The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco, showed a blend of vampires, swords, and medieval horror. It’s looking gritty and maybe even a bit spooky. Launch is targeted for 2026.

Then there’s Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf, a beautiful sequel that seems way more ambitious. The environments have grown larger, and the themes feel heavier. Lana and Mui are back, this time facing new internal and external threats.

Classics Reinvented and Fresh Faces

The original Gears of War is coming back under the name Gears of War: Reloaded, rebuilt entirely with modern graphics. It launches August 26 and supports crossplay and progression across devices. It’s nostalgia, but with smoother edges.

Beast of Reincarnation marks Game Freak’s step into darker waters. This monster-hunting RPG is a whole different tone from their usual, and it’s planned for 2026.

Invincible VS, a fighter game based on the comic and TV series, pits teams of three against each other. It’s bold, and if balanced right, might turn heads when it releases in 2026.

Also revealed was Clockwork Revolution, with a new trailer full of strange characters and ability-based combat. Still no date. Then At Fate’s End showed a narrative-focused experience where your choices decide the flow of events.

In Aphelion, players can explore space and engage in tactical combat. The game feels like it tries to mix strategy with storytelling. Hard to say yet if it’s pulling it off.

Indie Highlights Add Style and Charm

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand was definitely more low-key but interesting. A story-driven game set in an old hotel, it focuses on characters and conversations rather than action. Looks chill and thoughtful.

Aniimo, a puzzle-platformer, impressed with its smooth animation and creativity. It’s abstract, almost artistic, and probably one of those games that sneak up on you.

Final Fantasy XVI

One more thing: Final Fantasy XVI is officially live on Xbox, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will arrive this winter. It’s been a long wait, but Xbox is finally making deeper inroads with Square Enix, and fans of the genre definitely will benefit.

Xbox Games Showcase 2025 didn’t just focus on one thing. From major titles like Black Ops 7 and Outer Worlds 2, to artistic indies and the introduction of handhelds, the event tried to cover it all. While not every game will appeal to everyone, the overall message is simple: Xbox wants to build a platform that plays how and where you want. Now let’s see how it actually turns out.
