Dota 2 patch 7.36c sought to balance the game. But some of the heroes’ win rates dropped by more than 4% almost instantly, while others gained 3-4%.
The meta is clearly changing again quite rapidly, and the better you understand what’s OP and what’s awful, the more MMR you will gain. Taking advantage of trends is essential if you want to climb in rank.
Heroes That Became Weaker

Valve
Here are some of the biggest losers of Dota 2 patch 7.36c:
Lifestealer
This hero was completely destroyed by the new patch. His win rate dropped by 4.2% and his pick rate by nearly 4%. The problem is that his Open Wounds is no longer strong enough to secure kills in the early game, while his ability to increase his maximum HP has been greatly diminished.
Templar Assassin
TA received three massive nerfs in Dota 2 patch 7.36c. The barrier of her Refraction is now just 30 at all levels. When 7.36 was first introduced, it was 30 at level 1!
Psionic Trap now has a poor slow effect if activated immediately. From 30%, it went down to 20%. And in most cases, that’s how you’ll need to use your traps because there’s not enough time to place them next to a target and wait until they become stronger. The maximum slow effect is 50% instead of 60%.
Two important talents also got nerfed. The hero now gains only +20 damage at level 10 to Refraction. And at level 25, it gains just 3 additional Refraction instances instead of +5.
With all of these severe nerfs, it’s no wonder that TA’s win rate went from 49% to 44.8%. Her pick rate also dropped by more than 2.5%.
Other Heroes
This list of severely nerfed heroes also includes Witch Doctor, Chen, Pudge, and Dark Willow.
Heroes That Became Stronger

Valve
There are around a dozen heroes that gained 1.5% – 4% in win rate after the release of the new patch. Here are the most important ones:
Sand King
His win rate increased by 3.75% simply because of his Sand Storm buffs. The ability now gains increased movement speed when SK steps outside of it, moving at up to 125% of his speed. Its damage was also increased, from 25 – 85 to 25 – 100.
SK’s current win rate is 50.5% and his pick rate is 5.2%.
Phantom Assassin
Her base damage was increased by 2 and her evasion is now 20% when Immaterial is level 1. These buffs increased PA’s win rate by 2.2%. It’s still slightly below 50% but it’s good enough to make a lot of players pick her, especially in the lower MMR brackets.
Other Heroes
The list of heroes whose win rate increased substantially after the release of the new Dota 2 patch also includes Enchantress, Shadow Demon, Elder Titan, Keeper of the Light, Omniknight, Dawnbreaker, Kunkka, Batrider, Sven, and Lone Druid.
