Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip was one of the most exciting players in CS:GO. His story is inspirational, involving a family that didn’t believe in him, an early Major trophy, and a lot of moments of rebellion. At just 24, he has achieved more than most players achieve in their entire career.

But now that he gave up on playing professional CS:GO and decided to join Evil Geniuses’ Valorant team as a streamer, a lot of people are wondering — will he ever come back to CS:GO? And will his legacy endure given how quickly his career ended?

Stewie2K’s best moments

Stewie2K started playing professionally in 2015, however, his first important team was Cloud9. He joined them in January 2016 and his impact could be felt almost immediately. In October of that year, Cloud9 won an important trophy at ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals.

The next major breakthrough came more than a year later, at ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018. Cloud9 won that tournament by defeating a very strong FaZe Clan in the Grand Final. And Stewie2K was part of the roster that achieved the seemingly impossible result. For North America, this was a historic event.

Stewie2K would leave Cloud9 just a few months later and join SK Gaming, who were having roster issues. He spent around 9 months playing for SK and then MIBR, but the results were modest.

After that, Stewie2K returned to North America and joined Team Liquid, where he spent three years. This was the best period of his CS:GO career. Liquid were on top of the world at the time and Stewie made them even stronger. In 2019, the NA squad managed to win the Intel Grand Slam Season 2.

This was a huge result for Stewie and it meant that his team won four consecutive S-tier tournaments that year. In total, he would win no less than six trophies with Liquid. And he would participate in many other Grand Finals.

Joining Evil Geniuses

Stewie joined EG in January 2022 and this proved to be a bad decision. EG haven’t been doing great for a long time and there was little that could be done to change that. As he noted in multiple of his Twitch streams, Stewie quickly lost interest in the project due to his personality at the end of July, and so he decided to make a radical career change and start streaming Valorant.

Almost for certain, Stewie2K will stream Valorant for EG for at least six months. But sooner or later, his desire to compete in front of a huge crowd will make him go back to playing professionally. The question is: will he join a Valorant team or will he go back to CS:GO?
