Will Arcane Skins Return to Fortnite

fragster Stalingrad 30. December 2024

What a time it was when Jinx and Vi were still available as Fortnite Arcane skins. The Netflix show’s original launch gave way to the release of these beloved skins in Fortnite’s collection. Now, the show is bigger than ever and more fans have been reminiscing about the iconic collaboration. Yet, there are no signs of the skins coming back to Epic Games’ battle royale.

Arcane Collaborations

Arcane is directly linked to the 5v5 multi-player online battle arena(MOBA) game, League of Legends, and heavily incorporates the game’s universe and lore. However, it is also a stand-alone Netflix series that had gained acclaim on its own, and thus was able to branch out for collaborations even with shooter games like Valorant and Fortnite.

Valorant, being under the same developer as League of Legends, was notably first to sport Arcane collabs. Its Sherriff and recent Vandal Arcane bundles pay tribute to the show. As for Fortnite, the Jinx and Vi skins helped promote Arcane’s first season in 2021. Jinx came during Season 8 of Fortnite’s Chapter 2, while Vi arrived at Chapter 3: Season 1.

The skins were praised for its detailed graphics and sold quite well as Fortnite Arcane skins, with the Jinx skin quickly becoming one of the most popular Gaming Legends skins. However, the skins became unavailable as they left the Item Shop in February 2022, and haven’t returned since.

Why The Fortnite Arcane Skins May Not Return

On December 25, 2024, an unexpected Christmas news left fans in chaos. An X (formerly Twitter) post from user @ShiinaBR, a known Fortnite leaker, stated that the Jinx and Vi skins may possibly never come back to the Fortnite in-game store.

The post contained the statement of Riot Games co-founder which said that they planned for the collaboration skins to only last for a short time. The sole reason for their release in Fortnite was to commemorate the launch of Arcane’s initial season. Riot Games and Arcane seem to not see the need for the skins’ return, even as the second season hit Netflix.

Now that both seasons of Arcane are completed, there might be even less motivation for the continued availability of the Fortnite Arcane skins. Fans are unhappy about the announcement, and are clamoring for Riot Games and Fortnite to bring back the beloved outfits of Vi and Jinx.

A Flicker of Hope

After @ShiinaBR’s tweet has gone viral, it seemed to catch the attention of the same Riot co-founder, who backtracked on his words.

In another tweet, @ShiinaBR reported that the co-founder mentioned that they will try talking to the Riot team about it. They said that they aren’t sure what they can do yet if anything, but promised to look into it.

While the promise is basically still empty for now, it was enough to spark hope in many of the thousands of players who wanted a rerun. Riot and Epic Games may at the very least consider bringing back these beloved skins in the game due to high demand.

Conclusion

The possibility for the return of the Fortnite Arcane skins may be distant at the moment, and fans should probably not expect too much. However, it may be sufficient just knowing that there’s small hope of Vi and Jinx coming back to Fortnite island.

Meanwhile, even though these original Arcane skins may not return at all anymore, the announcement of upcoming series following Arcane may spark more collaborations between Riot and Epic. It wouldn’t be exactly what players are asking for, but what do you think of these possible new skins?
