Wildcard’s Rollercoaster 2025 in CS2

Wildcard’s season has been a mixture of some highs and lows, yet another year of transition and growth for North America’s CS2 team. Wildcard had a strong finish to the season at the Frost and Fire Europe, where they got to show their potential to dominate regionals. Also, they were able to find back-to-back top-six finishes at the CCT Season 2 Global Finals and BLAST Rivals Spring. Wildcard’s performance at BLAST Rivals Spring was the team’s best to date, with a 5th-place finish in a tournament title.

These results put them in a good position to go into the Major. But the team could not get through Stage 1 and ended with a 2-3 record, finishing in the top 27. As a result of their failure to live up to expectations, they made some changes to their roster. Nathan ‘stanislaw’ Jarguz and Love ‘phzy’ Smidebrant were benched for new players Sebastian ‘fr3nd’ Kuśmierz and Jaxon ‘Peeping’ Cornwell.

Wildcard’s New Guns, fr3nd and Peeping

Wildcard Gaming has made a major strategic change, adding Sebastian “fr3nd” Kuśmierz, and Jaxon “Peeping” Cornwell to their main Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) roster as they prepare for the FISSURE Playground 1 tournament.

Fr3nd, who is an AWPer from Poland, was promoted after six months with Wildcard’s Academy team. And while he is new to playing with the main team, he is no stranger to competing. He has experience playing for Polish teams, including HONORIS, an organization created by ex-Virtus.pro legends TaZ and NEO. Even though HONORIS disbanded in 2023 due to financial issues, fr3nd’s consistency and impressive growth as a player made them a good prospect for Wildcard’s new roster.

As for Peeping, he joined the lineup after two months of free agency, after leaving Nouns Esports in May 2025. Wildcard has seen Peeping grow for many months. And leaning in on negotiations after the BLAST.tv Austin Major showed Wildcard’s commitment to new talent to expand their competitive roster.

What to Expect for Wildcard’s New Roster

Wildcard’s new CS2 roster is ready to make its splash at the FISSURE Playground 1 event in Belgrade, Serbia. The event kicks off on July 15, 2025. Anticipation surrounds Wildcard’s new roster expectations as they take on the rest of the 15 invited teams in Belgrade. And, they’re all competing for $1 million in prizes and Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points that matter for qualification to the StarLadder Budapest Major in November.

Combining fr3nd’s disciplined AWPing style with Peeping’s, this is going to add another dimension to Wildcard’s style. And it might just help them fix some of the consistency problems that plagued the team earlier in the year. The new team will have just under a week to get used to each other before FISSURE Playground 1. So with that, they will need to show both synergy and stability as a new squad on LAN.
