Since the supposed release of the new 2nd Season Chapter 5 of Fortnite, a lot of excited fans and players are to be expected to eagerly welcome this fresh update. Unfortunately, instead of being able to get straight into playing the game, players have been met with a pop up message “Waiting in Queue” that can even extend to an hour-long wait.

As a sandbox battle royale game, Fortnite is a big hit with such a massive player base and fans in the community. With the recent problem circling around the Fortnite queue, players are quick to turn to the internet in search of others who are experiencing the same dilemma and could perhaps offer a way to fix things. In this article, we will uncover the reasons why this Fornite queue is put up by Epic Games and the updates about what would happen in the future.

Too Much Logins

The sudden influx of players attempting to enter the game during special events or holidays are usually the cause of this problem. For example, something that has happened before is connected to the release of the new Chapter 5 Season 2. Most of these rushing players were probably trying to enter the game almost at the same time, which would definitely cause any online game problems with the main server systems overloading.

Even with the massive influx, many are still wondering how Fortnite cracked down this time from having too many players. Especially considering that the game already had a massive player base, it is normal to find this sudden problem strange. Fortnite’s servers are supposed to be able to handle the amount of logins no matter how many, and they usually are capable of such a feat. That time around, and in several other instances, it so happens that the numbers are not the problem alone.

Fortnite’s Server Emergency

Epic Games can have emergency maintenance that can last hours. Also before the delayed Chapter 5 Season 2 release, the emergency maintenance took a total of 19 hours, causing the Fortnite queue problem. This then caused a server downtime that delayed the release for at least 8 hours. As expected, many players got angry for having to wait so long which is further aggravated by more waiting due to the Fortnite queue issue.

Along with the emergency maintenance, millions of players worldwide requesting entry at the same time undoubtedly added to the problem and caused the server to overload. Epic Games also announced with their X account Fortnite Status that they are running a weekly network test to improve their services—which is a good thing, only unfortunate that it is only being conducted right around when players are already waiting quite long. However, the official X page of Fortnite Status has already assured players that they would be working to find and fix the issues that cause login problems to try and resolve the queue issue soon.

Patience is The Key

In conclusion, the problem “Waiting in Queue” is caused by a sequence of events that pressured the system too much. Epic Games knows that setting up a waiting queue would trigger most of the players, but the reason for having a Fortnite queue is for the game to be able to cater for its massive player base with the best quality it could.

For now, there is no fix or way to bypass this Fortnite queue. At present, the waiting time may range from minutes to hours, but rest assured that these will gradually get lower until the servers are back on their feet. Patience is always key, and with the promise of improvement from the game’s devs, we can expect a smoother, more immediate experience afterwards.
