The Western European Qualifier for The International 11 is starting today and no less than six teams have a realistic chance of winning or at least finishing in the top three.

This is by far the most disputed regional qualifier of the six and its results will likely determine not only the directly invited competitor to TI11 but also at least one winner of the Last Chance Qualifier.

Tournament details

The Western European Qualifier for The International 2022 takes place between September 13-17. The winner will receive a direct invite to TI11. The second and third place teams will go to the Last Chance Qualifier, which will take place between October 8-12.

The number of participants is 12. Eight of them start in the upper bracket while the other four start in the lower bracket. Every match is best-of-three, apart from the Grand Final.

These are the 12 teams that play in the tournament:

  • Team Liquid
  • Team Secret
  • Nigma Galaxy
  • Alliance
  • Entity
  • Goonsquad
  • Into The Breach
  • DGG Esports
  • IVY
  • Team Bald Reborn
  • Water Rune Enjoyers
  • Brame

All of these teams come from the two Western European Divisions but the skill difference between them is still enormous.

Favorites

The biggest favorites of the tournament are these:

  • Team Secret
  • Team Liquid
  • Nigma Galaxy
  • Entity

Alliance and goonsquad also stand a chance of finishing in the top three.

Team Secret are one of the most underrated teams in this race. Their DPC results in 2022 weren’t great, but that’s because the team struggled to find players who were a good match for Clement “Puppey” Ivanov’s playstyle. Several roster changes had to be made and that impacted Secret’s results in a major way.

However, at the most recent tournaments they participated in, Riyadh Masters and ESL One Malaysia, Team Secret finished in the top four, which clearly suggests that they are fully able to win this qualifier.

Another team that might win is Nigma Galaxy. Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi played in three TI Grand Finals and he missed the event completely last year, so he probably doesn’t want to miss it again. He also happens to have a formidable roster, full of some of the world’s best players. On the list of favorites, his team is easily one of the top three.

The two competitors that had the best results in Dota Pro Circuit events this year are Team Liquid and Entity. Both of them had modest results in recent months but that doesn’t mean they can’t win the tournament. We will find out who qualified for TI11 on September 17.
