Whisper of the House is now available on PlayStation 5. GD Studio’s cozy organizing game launched for Sony’s console on August 27, combining home decoration, puzzle-like housekeeping tasks and a surprisingly mysterious story hidden throughout Whisper Town.
The PS5 release also arrives with a limited 20% launch discount. Rather than focusing entirely on building the perfect room, Whisper of the House encourages players to examine the possessions of its residents and uncover the stories behind them.
Tidying rooms becomes the core gameplay mechanic
Players take the role of an all-purpose housekeeper working throughout Whisper Town.
Residents provide a variety of assignments. One person might need help moving into a new home, while another could require a cluttered room to be reorganized or a shop prepared before opening. Other tasks involve sorting personal belongings or even tracking down missing cats.
The basic activities are deliberately simple, but GD Studio uses the objects inside each room to provide additional narrative context.
- Help residents move into and organize their homes
- Prepare shops and other locations for opening
- Arrange furniture and important personal objects
- Investigate unusual details hidden throughout Whisper Town
Objects can reveal information about the people who own them. An unfinished corner of a room could suggest an abandoned project, while carefully preserved belongings may point toward memories that remain important to a character.
There is not always a single correct solution. Some assignments require players to understand what a resident wants, while others provide significantly more freedom over how the finished room should look.
More than 1,800 furniture items are available
Customization is one of the largest parts of Whisper of the House.
GD Studio says the game contains more than 1,800 furniture items and over ten different home layouts. Players can create anything from a heavily stocked study to a plant-filled greenhouse or an unconventional emergency shelter.
Selected furniture, wallpapers and flooring can also be recolored or given different textures.
The goal is not simply to clean each room, but to turn organization itself into a form of environmental storytelling.

The developers have also placed considerable emphasis on interactions that have little or no impact on progression.
Players can activate an old gramophone, interact with toys, pull tissues from boxes and discover other small reactions throughout rooms. These elements are paired with detailed environmental audio intended to create a relaxing, almost ASMR-like atmosphere.
Whisper Town hides something stranger
The game becomes considerably more unusual once players begin examining its environments carefully.
Whisper Town initially presents itself as a peaceful collection of homes and residents, but strange events gradually appear beneath the surface.
A mysterious number 42 can appear around the museum. Stories circulate about a ghost near a well. Unusual cracks, unexplained letters and other anomalies suggest that something more complicated is happening in the town.
GD Studio describes this side of the game as “cozy snooping.” Players are not forced into rapidly solving a central mystery. Instead, discoveries remain scattered alongside normal organizing and decorating activities.
- Strange clues can appear while completing normal assignments
- Environmental details contribute to the wider mystery
- Exploration is optional rather than heavily directed
- The story develops alongside relationships with town residents
That structure allows players to engage with Whisper of the House at different levels. Someone interested primarily in decoration can concentrate on designing spaces, while players looking for narrative details can spend additional time investigating individual objects and unusual locations.
Players eventually receive their own home
Helping other residents also provides furniture and rewards that can be used in the player’s personal home.
There are no strict requirements for how that space should look. Players can create minimalist rooms, crowded collections or highly themed interiors using the furniture accumulated throughout the game.
This personal space essentially removes the restrictions associated with client assignments and turns the game’s decoration systems into a more traditional creative sandbox.
The combination should give Whisper of the House additional longevity beyond completing its individual housekeeping jobs.
Assessment
Whisper of the House enters an increasingly crowded cozy-game market, but its combination of organizing mechanics and environmental mystery gives it a distinct identity.
More than 1,800 furniture pieces provide substantial customization potential, while the interactive objects and detailed sound design should appeal to players looking for a slower experience rather than constant mechanical challenges.
The underlying mystery is potentially the more interesting differentiator. Instead of separating story sequences from decorating, GD Studio uses the same rooms and belongings for both purposes.
Whether that approach can sustain interest across the entire game will depend on how compelling Whisper Town’s residents and secrets become. For PS5 players interested in games such as Unpacking or other organization-focused experiences, however, Whisper of the House offers a new variation on the formula and is available now with a temporary launch discount.
