The passive Crafting Kit that will upgrade Hornet’s Tools in Hollow Knight: Silksong doesn’t actually enable you to craft, it’s just a way to upgrade the functionality of his Tools. You get this from a vendor and you are able to get a few different tiers. It can be quite useful to players.
What the Crafting Kit Does

Though it sounds like it should, the Crafting Kit does not actually craft or upgrade items at all. Once you get one, it just passively boosts the effectiveness of all your Tools, like damage or utility.
The in-game description reads:
- “Crafting by claw alone produces inferior results. With this kit you can craft finer, sharper and deadlier tools… if you so wish.”
- Destructoid clarifies that the item “will passively improve your tool’s effects” (for example increased rewards from Shard Pendant or increased DPS for offensive Tools).
- The Crafting Kit returns stronger passive effects with each tier up to four tiers total and a passively stronger effect comes with each added Crafting Kit.
Location & Acquisition
First Crafting Kit
The first Crafting Kit is found in the Deep Docks, East of The Marrow, and is usually early in the game. You will be able to access it through a vendor known as the Forge Daughter for 180 Rosaries.

How to get to the Forge Daughter:
- When you enter into the Deep Docks, do not head East towards Lace.
- Instead head down and fight your way through the enemies and then continue down to exit the room.
- After that go right and head up. You will then see a lever that uncovers both a bench and the Forge Daughter’s shop.
Extra Tiers
Although the location of only the first Crafting Kit is confirmed, we know that there are four Crafting Kits total, which means that there are three more tiers out there to find. Where those locations are is still currently unverified.
The Crafting Kit functions as a passive buff for Hornet’s Tools in Silksong. It doesn’t craft as much as it buffs their effects. The first one you can buy from the Forge Daughter at the Deep Docks for 180 Rosaries. There are three more tiers that provide larger buffs, but where they are is currently unknown, so it is worth exploring thoroughly.
