The Battlefield series is again in gaming talks not only because of the upcoming launch of Battlefield 6, but also due to Electronic Arts future roadmap. According to analyst Michael Pachter, EA is looking to make Battlefield into a yearly release franchise in the next five or six years, a move that could change how the series is seen.
EA May Push Battlefield Toward Yearly Releases
Speaking on his Pachter Factor show, Pachter said EA might follow a release model similar to Call of Duty. The plan involves a three-studio cycle, with DICE, Ripple Effect and Motive taking turns making new games. This way, EA can push out a Battlefield each year without putting all the work on just one studio.

Right now, Battlefield 6 is in development, with Criterion also helping the main teams and is set to release on October 10, 2025. Hype is already strong after beta impressions, and fans now wonder if the series can really keep quality under a yearly plan.
Can Battlefield Handle a Yearly Schedule?
Even if yearly releases make sense for business, the risk is also high. Pachter himself raised doubts about EA keeping up quality Battlefield games every year. He said instead of making full sequels annually, EA might release other types of “Battlefield experiences.” This could mean things like the rumoured dinosaur mode or smaller spin-offs outside the normal big-war setup. EA did try before with a battle royale spin-off, but the results were mixed.
The idea of yearly Battlefield has got careful reactions from players. Many point to Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed, both of which got criticism when yearly games made them feel stale and lower in quality. For many Battlefield fans, getting a solid game every two or three years feels much better than rushed yearly ones.
Uncertainty Beyond Battlefield 6

For now, EA has not confirmed what Pachter said. Insider Gaming reached out to Battlefield General Manager Byron Beede for comment, but no reply yet. If fan pushback grows, EA might need to adjust or change the plan.
Right now, the focus is on Battlefield 6, which looks like a needed return for the series. With positive beta feedback and the release close in October, fans wait to see if this is the start of a stronger phase or the first step into an uncertain yearly cycle.
