The already dangerous looking VP.Prodigy roster has been given another boost following the arrival of Danil “gpk” Skutin. Having recently parted ways with Gambit Esports, where he had been since August 2019, gpk’s arrival at the academy team of Virtus.Pro was made official on the opening day of November.

The Russian teenager’s time with Gambit was up and down to say the least, with the 19-year-old having been listed as inactive since the end of October, having first been removed from their main roster in February this year. Such actions were taken as a result of gpk’s apparent refusal to practice with his teammates, however he did return for the WePlay! Bukovel Minor.

Why gpk Departed Gambit

However, gpk played a total of just two major tournaments after they moved online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the youngster instead being used as a substitute and stand-in on other rosters, including Team Spirit, Fly to Moon, HellRaisers and Evil Geniuses.
Meanwhile, gpk also made an appearance for VP.Prodigy back in September at the OGA Dota PIT Season 3: Europe/CIS, when Rostislav “fn” Lozovoi was unavailable. With Lozovoi having departed the team for good, with VP.Prodigy moved quickly to announce gpk as his replacement.

What Does the Future Hold for VP.Prodigy?

VP.Prodigy have actually performed better than Virtus.Pro over recent months, with the former having recorded a number of wins at the start of 2020, including a victory over their sister team at the Epic Prime League Season 1. Meanwhile, they also finished as runner-up at the OFA Dota PIT Season 3: Europe/CIS, where they were beaten in the final against Team Secret. Uncertainty surrounding the future of the team of late has meant a lack of competitive action however.

Following the signing of gpk, the VP.Prodigy roster has a very competitive feel to it. Gpk will join Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko, Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin and Vitalie “Save-“ Melnic on the team, while one position remains unfilled at present.
