The first day of VCT Pacific week eight has concluded with Paper Rex delivering yet another heartbreaking loss for Gen.G and T1 overcomes their Japanese counterpart ZETA Division. Overall, we got an exciting start to this week with two nail-biting matches.

Paper Rex vs Gen.G
Gen.G got thrashed for the fourth time in a row in the VCT Pacific league. They had a good run till their matchup against Global Esports. However, a loss against GE and an upset against Talon Esports seem to have completely shaken their momentum for other matches. Meanwhile, Paper Rex is in outstanding form as they registered their sixth win of the league including today’s 2-0 clean sweep.

It all started with a map of Split, PRX mounted early pressure on Gen.G by winning the pistol and follow-up round. However, there were counterattacks by Gen.G in a few rounds but overall half-time belonged to Paper Rex by a 9-3 score. Gen.G took a solid start by winning the very first round and follow-up round giving fans a hope for comeback. However, PRX were reluctant to not to give up that easily. Ultimately, it was Paper Rex who secured the first map of Split with a 13-7 score. Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie dropped 21 Kills with 278 ACS.

Starting out as a defender on their opponent’s map pick, Paper Rex displayed aggressive gameplay till the entire first half. At the end of half-time score was 10-2 suggesting a complete domination by the Southeast Asian powerhouse. Absolute nothing for Gen.G fans as they failed to get even one round in attack and failed to replicate Paper Rex’s performance before halftime. The final score stands at 13-2 in favor of the Paper Rex team. Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee was the hero of this annihilation shows with 18 frags with 284 ACS. With this Paper Rex emerged victorious over Gen.G winning a 2-0 score.

ZETA DIVISION vs T1
If the first match of the day failed to the adrenaline rush then ZETA vs T1 had a plan ready to change it. In the best-of-three clash, T1 overcomes ZETA by a 2-1 score. Excluding the third map, the overall matchup was closely contested.

In T1’s map pick, Fracture, they started strong on defense, showing dominance in the early rounds. However, ZETA gained momentum and balanced the score to 6-6. The second half witnessed T1’s relentless attacking, securing consecutive flawless rounds. Despite ZETA’s counterattacks, T1 emerged victorious with a 13-11 scoreline.

The clash on the second map, Lotus, proved to be a riveting encounter in the league. T1 dominated the first half as defenders, securing an impressive 9-3 lead. Surprisingly, ZETA staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, nearly mirroring T1’s performance. Ultimately, the Japanese side prevailed with a 13-10 score, leaving spectators in awe of the thrilling turn of events.

The decider map, Bind, unfolded as the climax of this intense series. Recognizing Bind as a defender-favored map, T1 capitalized on their defensive prowess, securing an impressive 9-3 lead in the first half. With a change of sides, T1 displayed unwavering determination, quickly adding four more rounds to their tally. The match concluded decisively with a final score of 13-3 in T1’s favor. Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beam stood out as the MVP, amassing an impressive 55 kills and exhibiting exceptional skill with 243 ACS.
