VCT Game Changers NA Series 2 main event preview

The VCT Game Changers Series 2 will showcase an ultimate showdown between the top eight North American female Valorant teams for a prize pool of $50,000. While the popular teams have punched their appearance again at the main event, the open qualifiers also witnessed some extraordinary performances from underdogs. Before the main events begins, here’s a preview of the opening matchups.

The event is set to begin on Wednesday, July 6 at 10 pm CEST.

VCT Game Changers Series 2 Main event matchups

Immortals vs. Cloud9 White

The talented Immortals lineup will compete against the current Game Changers Champions in a highly charged matchup. As the most successful team in VCT Game Changers, C9 White don’t need an introduction. Without losing a single match in the main events, the squad have won all four of the Game Changers series that have been held.

They haven’t faced the Immortals on the battleground yet, although they were matched against Immortals in the open qualifier. However, after arriving 2 minutes after the leeway window, tournament organizers ruled that C9 forfeited the match. Despite the forfeit, C9 qualified for the main event by winning the lower bracket qualifiers against GenG Black and Misfits Black.

On the other hand, Immortals had an easy time at the open qualifiers. Following a forfeit win in the first match, the team thrashed Sanri-O’s in the second match to book their playoff ticket. Considering C9’s consistency at Game Changer events, it’ll certainly be challenging for Immortals to deliver C9 White their first setback.

Shopify Rebellion Female vs. Ariana Grande Perfume

The main event will commence with a match between one of the most popular female Valorant teams and the underdogs, AGP. Shopify Rebellion have established their domination at VCT with second-place finishes at VCT Game Changers Series 3 and the 2022 Game Changers Series 1. AGP, on the other hand, haven’t attended any Game Changers event before.

Although they had a very smooth run through the open qualifications, overcoming Shopify won’t be simple. If they want to beat Shopify Rebellions’ experienced roster, AGP must find a strategy to overcome the deadly duo of Kayla “flowerful” Horton and Diana “sonder” Zhang.

Dignitas vs. Sanri-O’s

The opponents Dignitas faced throughout the open qualifiers were both a stern test for the team and a real treat for the spectators. They initially defeated Counter Logic Gaming Red in the opening round before taking down Misfits Black to punch their presence in the main event. Sanri-O’s, another underdog team, kicked off their qualifier run with a win over GenG Black in the opening match.

The team managed to advance to the championship round by defeating Team Mystic Venus, despite being demoted to the lower bracket as a result of a loss to Immortals. However, unless Sanri-O’s pulls off a miracle, their odds of moving on appear to be minimal given Dignitas’ previous performances.

TSM.X vs. Dart Monkeys

TSM easily defeated DM in their first matchup during the open qualifiers, dropping them into the bottom bracket. Although DM defeated XSET Female in the lower bracket round to advance to the playoffs, their vengeance for the upset in the open qualification is yet unfinished. They must, however, change their approach if they want to avoid suffering the same fate again. Regardless of the result, the contest will be extremely close because both teams have comparable levels of firepower, accomplishments, and experience.
