The VCT EMEA League playoffs continue, and last Friday, May 26th, we met the first finalist of the tournament. It is none other than the guys from Fnatic, who got an excellent 2-0 victory over Team Liquid to advance to the tournament’s Grand Final.

On the other hand, in the Lower Bracket, we have FÜT Esports applied a clean sweep to NaVi to advance to the decisive match against Team Liquid, where the second finalist of the tournament will be defined. Undoubtedly, it was a disappointing playoff for NaVi, a team that looked very strong throughout the regular season and was crushed by Liquid and FÜT in two consecutive matches.

Let’s see what happened on the last day of the VCT EMEA playoffs.

Fnatic crush Team Liquid to seal their ticket to the Grand Finals

Fnatic continues to demonstrate in each of the series they play that they are the best team in the region and, for many, in the world. Their victim was Team Liquid, a team that came with a lot of confidence after crushing NaVi, but this time the orange machinery annihilated them.

The series was played at Lotus (Fnatic) and Bind (Team Liquid).

Lotus

In Lotus, we were treated to an exquisite feast, as both Fnatic and Liquid demonstrated exceptional play on both sides. It all started with Team Liquid setting the tone of the match in the first half when they took a 5-3 lead. However, Fnatic did not lag, and on their attacking side, they managed to finish the first half with a partial score of 7-5.

Then, at the change of sides, Team Liquid surprised everyone by taking a 10-8 lead on the scoreboard. But this only made Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev wake up his team to tie the match 12-12 and send it to Overtime. In the end, Fnatic won both rounds in Overtime and took the victory 14-12.

Bind

In Bind, we had a very similar outcome in the first half, as both Fnatic and Team Liquid showed their full power on both the attacking and defensive sides. As a result, the first half ended with an excellent score of 6-6.

However, at the change of sides, Fnatic made the necessary adjustments to implement a spectacular offense that was impossible for Team Liquid’s guys to stop. Finally, the victory went to Fnatic with a score of 13-6.

FÜT Esports surprise NaVi and send them back home

One of the biggest surprises of these playoffs was given by FÜT Esports, a team that applied a clean sweep against NaVi and thus managed to advance to the Lower Bracket final.

The series was played in Lotus (FÜT) and Fracture (NaVi).

Lotus

It all started at Lotus, the map pick of FÜT Esports, where the Turkish squad gave a small sample of an excellent level in the first half on their attacking side. Then, Konur “qw1” Şahin took it upon himself to demonstrate quality by leading FÜT to a 10-2 partial victory.

Then, at the change of sides, NaVi tried to wake up by the hand of Andrey “Shao” Kiprsky winning the first six rounds and putting the score 10-8. However, the Turks reacted to win the last three rounds to take the 13-8 victory.

Fracture

In Fracture, we could observe a similar match to the first of the series, as FÜT Esports started very strong winning the first half with a score of 8-4. However, unlike the first map, NaVi did not have the response capacity on their attacking side to make a comeback.

Ultimately, FÜT Esports won the remaining five rounds to take a comfortable 13-7 victory and advance to the Lower Bracket finals, where they will face Team Liquid.
