The North American team NRG and Brazillian powerhouse FURIA Esports emerge victorious in their week 5 matchup at the VCT Americas League.
The VCT Americas League is in full swing, and the 10 partnered Valorant teams are giving it everything they’ve got to secure a spot in the playoffs. Last night’s action featured two exciting matchups between the powerhouse teams of North America and Brazil. NRG and 100 Thieves battled it out in the opening match, while MIBR and FURIA Esports faced off in the second match of the night. Here is a quick summary of how the match unfolded:
NRG vs 100 Thieves
NRG started the series with Bind as their opening map, but 100T outclassed them early on, forcing the formidable NRG lineup to go on the defensive right away. Following a slow start, Pujan “FNS” Mehta and men were able to break through 100T’s defense, winning five straight rounds to go into the second half with a two-point lead. The team maintained its lead into the second half, leaving no room for 100T to mount a potential comeback. With 20 kills each, Austin “crashies” Roberts and Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks shone out for NRG, helping their side secure a comfortable 13-7 victory on Bind.
Some incredible plays from 100 Thieves, but it wasn't enough to wrestle dominance away from NRG. Precision and control wins out today and @NRGgg ends with a 2-0 W!#VCTAmericas

After suffering a humiliating defeat on the first map, 100T’s performance declined even further on the second map of the series. Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban and company appeared helpless in the face of the brutal and relentless attack from crashies and Sam “s0m” Oh. The NRG duo slammed 100T back and forth to secure an 11-1 lead for the team in the first half. Without taking much time, NRG clinched the required two rounds and sealed the map with a 13-3 victory to secure their victory at VCT Americas League.
MIBR vs FURIA Esports
MIBR got off to an explosive start on the opening map of the series Pearl, putting on a solid offensive performance to establish a strong foothold. On the strength of Douglas “dgzin” Silva’s fragging skills, FURIA was able to win a few rounds for themselves, but MIBR still led 8-4 at the break. The game shifted dramatically in the second half when FURIA embarked on a seven-round winning streak and sailed to an 11-4 advantage. Even though Murillo “murizzz” Tuchtenhagen and his teammates secured a three-round winning streak of their own, FURIA came back and finished off the map with a 13-11 victory.
It looked close in the first map, but after the shift to Split @FURIA took a major lead. They'll be closing out Week 5, Day 1 of #VCTAmericas with a 2-0!#DIADEFURIA

FURIA maintained its edge in the second map Split, but this time it was Gabriel “qck” Lima who thoroughly demolished the opposition to put his team in a strong 11-2 lead. Despite MIBR’s best efforts, they were only able to win five rounds before FURIA stormed back to win the match 13-7 and claim their fourth triumph at VCT Americas.
