Riot Games recently dropped the unveil trailer for a new Sentinel class agent named Vyse, bringing the agent tally to 26. The new character’s release date and abilities were on full display in the trailer, and as things stand, the character is shaping up to be another headache for players based on her impressive abilities and utility.
Vyse will be officially released on August 28th, 2024, coinciding with the release of Valorant Episode 9 Act 2. The unveiling of Vyse is a breath of fresh air, as the developers had been teasing a new sentinel for quite some time. Vyse is a welcome addition to the sentinel roster, bringing the tally up to 6, a formidable list consisting of agents Killjoy, Cyper, Sage, Chamber, and Deadlock.
Vyse’s character is identified by her mechanized samurai look accented by muted purples and a metallic helmet. She possesses the ability to manipulate liquid metal, which accounts for most of her cool abilities. Her abilities involve the manipulation of this liquid metal to ensnare characters, place hidden traps, and restrict players, opening up new avenues for gameplay.
Her abilities are strikingly similar to sentinels Cypher and Sage, but one distinct quality she has is the flash ability. The flash ability is a skill that blinds a player’s screen when looked at and is very essential as it can make the difference between life and death in matches. The flash barely lasts two seconds, but that’s more than enough time to react or retreat.

Vyse being a Sentinel makes her extremely integral to any team, as it is her role to dictate the flow and tempo of the match as well as control how space is utilized. Her abilities are more geared towards restriction and confinement, as is evident from her spiked metallic vines, which leads us into her first ability:
Razorvines (C)
Vyse is capable of firing an invisible nest of razor vines that, once activated, sprawl across an area, ensaring a player. These vines deal damage as well as slow down players who move through them.
Shear (Q)
By equipping filaments of liquid metal, launch a hidden wall trap that appears behind an enemy when crossed by an enemy. The wall only lasts a few seconds.
Arc Rose (E)
EQUIP an Arc Rose and FIRE it into a surface to conceal, or ALT FIRE to place it through the surface. REUSE to flash all players looking at it and blind them for a few seconds.

Steel Garden (Ultimate)
EQUIP a bramble of liquid metal, then FIRE to send a stream of metal thorns towards your enemy. These thorns will ensnare your enemy’s primary weapon, causing it to jam for a few seconds. The ability requires a momentary windup period.
Vyse’s abilities pose a significant threat and will be problematic for players at first, but the belief is that as time goes by they will adapt and appreciate the dynamic gameplay brought about by the character. The community’s immediate reaction is that she may be a tad bit overpowered, but that is a conversation to be had upon her release on 28th August, 2024.
