Rory “dephh” Jackson has joined XSET, with the former Dignitas in-game leader having now completed the North American organization’s VALORANT lineup. The Brit will act as captain for XSET, with the 29-year-old former CS:GO pro having started his VALORANT journey with Homeless in July last year.

The veteran pro joins the team ahead of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Three, with dephh set to replace Matthew “Wedid” Suchan, who was benched back in May. Meanwhile, he will team up with Jordan “AYRIN” He, Bryce “PureR” Lovell, Brendan “BcJ” Jensen and Zander “thwifo” Kim.

What dephh Has Said On His Arrival at XSET

Speaking on his arrival, dephh stated that: “XSET was a team I’ve been keeping my eye on for a while now. I love how they play, especially in the older metas they played fearlessly. XSET has been in contention for almost every VCT event. It seems like they are at the final hurdle and just need a little bit of experience to push them over the edge.”

Dephh’s CS:GO career spanned six years, with the Brit having made his name competing under the banner of Complexity Gaming. He then retired in 2020 in order to focus upon VALORANT. Having joined Dignitas from Homeless, the team was unable to live up to expectation, leading to the release of its entire roster in March.

With XSET having impressed so far in 2021, having finished second at the VCT Stage Two Challengers One back in April, the team will be hoping that the signing of dephh can take them to the next level. However, they still have plenty of work to do, having missed out on the Masters Two Reykjavik after finishing bottom of the Challengers Finals.

Will the Arrival of dephh Help XSET?

Speaking on the plans for the team, dephh continued by stating: “Our first plan as a team is to expand our agent pool as deep as possible. Seems to me from my trial and scrim period these guys have a bunch of agents they can play between all maps. They value the leadership role and what it brings, maybe it was lacking slightly before. We have a bunch of different backgrounds and games in the current roster, so I’m being very careful in the way I show my system.”

The team will now have a few weeks to get to grips with each other, with the VCT Stage Three set to get underway at the end of the month or at the beginning of July. It remains to be seen as to whether XSET can challenge the likes of Sentinels and VI in the NA scene.
