Valorant patch 5.03: Chamber nerfs, Reaver 2.0 skins

A 77% pick rate at the VCT Stage 2 Masters in Copenhagen and being the most picked agent in... Scott Kostov | 9. August 2022

A 77% pick rate at the VCT Stage 2 Masters in Copenhagen and being the most picked agent in the Competitive Queues brought Chamber the nerfs he desperately needed.

While the best players in the world displayed their dominance with the agent, the entire community was begging for adjustments to be made. Chamber’s ability to hold aggressive angles as a form of defensive pressure made him the most broken agent in pro play, but it didn’t stop there. On top of being perfectly suited for the Operator role, his abilities made him also the most efficient from an economic standpoint.

Chamber nerfs

Rendezvous (his E ability) underwent the following changes:

  • The cooldown on the ability after using or recalling his Teleport anchors went to 30 seconds, up from the previous 20.
  • If the Rendezvous anchor is destroyed by the enemy, the ability would go on a 45-second cooldown.
  • The diameter of the circle around Chamber’s anchors was also reduced, from 21 to 15 meters.

Trademark (his C ability) and Tour De Force (his Ultimate ability) both had their slow field durations decreased. Instead of slowing for nine seconds, now they will slow the area for 6,5 seconds. His Ultimate now also costs eight ultimate orbs not seven.

Chamber’s Headhunter, which is his Q ability, received a cost increase for the bullets it fired. Each bullet now costs 150 gold instead of 100, lowering Chamber’s power level on eco rounds.

Neon Ultimate will now headshot for 66 damage not 22 per bullet

Ability regional damage breakup

Agents like Jett and Chamber continue to dominate the meta due to their weapon abilities and the effect they have on the economy. Meanwhile, Neon’s ultimate has been a sore point of contention among the player base. Its dynamics make it the most overpowered ability in lower levels of play and useless on the professional scene. One of Jett’s left-click knives will now do 42 damage to the leg instead of the usual 50, and leg shots with Chamber’s ultimate will now do 128 damage instead of one tapping with 150 damage.

Neon’s Ultimate got a few more changes, but it also had the leg shot damage lowered to 85%. Headshots with Neon’s Overdrive will now do three times more damage than they used to, but the overall damage per shot was reduced from 22 to 18. These changes should be welcomed by the pro play community, who have already started fielding comps with Neon as their entry fragger.

Reaver 2.0 Skin line

The original Reaver skin line enjoyed tremendous success ever since it was released, so it was only expected that Riot would release a second edition, similar to the Prime and Glitchpop lines. After long few months with potential leaks and Karambit melee rumors, today, the Reaver 2.0 skin line finally hit the shop with patch 5.03. Equipped with four trademark Reaver variants, the skin line includes weapon skins for Phantom, Odin, Spectre, Ghost gun, and Reaver Karambit Melee weapon. Having the same inspection as Champions Karambit makes this an S-tier skin on its own, and we already know how good the Reaver sound effects are.
