Valorant Mobile had a big launch in China, where it collected more than +1m (~780,000) revenue and 170,000 iOS downloads just on the very first day. VALORANT Mobile was released August 19, 2025, and within the first hours of availability, it became the most downloaded app on Apple. This shows the relevance and the importance of Riot pushing dominance inside the mobile shooter market.

According to analytics source Bloomberg, the fact that VALORANT Mobile was the most-downloaded game on the App Store at that moment, placing top 7 in daily revenue and top 14 among top-grossing apps is an indicative point of the title’s performance. The numbers so far are coming only from iOS since Android data has not made public yet.

The mobile version of VALORANT was made together by Riot Games and Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios, the one which is known from PUBG Mobile. The project was target mainly at handheld gaming, aiming for something close to the PC game but tuned for smaller devices.
The game keeps agents, maps and weapons very similar to the PC version, even though some adjustment were added so it fits mobile gameplay better. Matches are also shorter, needing eight rounds instead of 13, which makes it better for short play session. Riot also worked with Canadian rapper BBNO$ who released a music video for pushing the launch visibility of the game further.

Esports investment and competitive plans

Riot and Tencent are going much further than just putting the game out in the market. They are framing VALORANT Mobile with a wide esports campaign. The two companies already invested 1.5bn RMB (~$200m / k150m) in China to form a full ecosystem, covering collegiate and national level tournaments to offer competitive paths for players.
The first national circuit is planned for Q4 2025 and is meant as the starting point for the official professional scene. Riot is also in collaboration with OnPlus to host the very first major tournament for VALORANT Mobile later in the year, proving their strong focus on competition.

The success of VALORANT Mobile after release demonstrates there is clear demand for tactical shooters on mobile. Organized and powered by Riot and Tencent, VALORANT Mobile stands ready as a major title that can contribute significantly towards mobile gaming growth and the esports field in China.
