Deadlock has experienced a lot of ups and downs since her introduction. While she initially struggled to be a best pick, there are some recent updates that have made her capable in some certain situations. Wondering if Deadlock is still playable in the current meta? Let’s find out!
Overview
On June 27, 2023, Deadlock is the 23rd agent that joined the Valorant Roster in Episode 7 Act 1. Her aggressive playstyle can bring her enemies to a standstill. For newcomers, they will find her gameplay and abilities relatively easy to use.
Deadlock is a female Sentinel agent from Norway and the first agent in Valorant that belongs to the European country. She has a total of four abilities just like other agents.
Abilities
Her four abilities are unique and available from the start of the game. She also has two purchased abilities that require credits, the ultimate ability that can be unlocked by gathering orbs and completing specific actions during the match.
Each of Deadlocks core abilities has a buff which includes GravNet that has an ability to pull players stronger and makes it harder for them to move when they get caught. This also makes them slower and can’t manage to escape.
Next up is Barrier Mesh, which has an ability to create a wall that blocks a large area. Lastly, is the Sonic Sensor that has an ability of picking up and putting back in the middle of the round. She can also pick up from a long distance. When the sensor is activated it triggers and becomes faster, it can also be really hard for enemies to destroy it.
So, is Deadlock Still Playable in the Current Meta?
Various people are still wondering if Deadlock is still playable in the current meta. To answer this question, “Is Deadlock still playable in Valorant’s current meta?” Yes. Deadlock is still playable. However, Deadlock is not a universally strong pick.
Deadlock excels at stopping her enemies team from pushing forward. Her abilities are very similar to Sage. However, unlike Cypher or Killjoy, she is not good for keeping an eye on.
Deadlock’s Limitations
Even though she is very powerful, it is very hard to say that she is the best choice for every map because she can’t replace a normal Sentinel. Instead, players will have to use her as their second controller or initiator, which can be good because having these two can be really strong now.
The reason why is that Viper is the reason why the double controller is so good. Since she’s doing similar to Sage and Deadlock when it comes to blocking and blocking vision, it is a must have.
Deadlock’s Optimal Map Usage
Deadlock is best on maps where you don’t need a normal Sentinel or perhaps a second controller or initiator. She’s really good on maps where you have to retake the site, because she creates an impact where she can slow the enemy when they are trying to plant the spike.
She is also a good choice, but she is not suited for every situation. Although she is very powerful, yet she’s not very strong enough that you should always use, especially for pro players. However she is definitely playable for regular gamers.
Even though Deadlock is not suitable for any circumstances, there is someone who can do more things than her. Moreover, she can be a good choice for any problems that might cause for the team.
So, if you want to start playing Deadlock now, you can still access her on the current meta. But beware of the previous limitations ahead.
Conclusion
Deadlock is better now than she used to be, but she’s still not the best choice for every situation. Recently, Deadlock became stronger. She is definitely worth trying, especially at the beginning of the game when players aren’t used to playing against her.
Even though she is good at slowing her enemies down and controlling areas, she can be a bit limited and using her might mess with your team’s overall strategy.
However, she is helpful for your teams and for the map. But if you are looking for someone who is very strong enough, there are other agents that might be better than her. But don’t hesitate to try Deadlock since she is quite useful too.
