VALORANT – G2 Analyst Lucas Rojo Suggests Roster Rebuild

After the team failed to qualify for the VALORANT Champions 2021, many had expected G2 Esports to make significant changes. Such speculation has now seemingly been confirmed by analyst Lucas Rojo, who suggested that a major rebuild is on the way during a recent interview.

Changes are likely to take place after the Red Bull Home Ground 2 event that is scheduled for next month. Fans of the organization have already speculated as to who will leave, with no announcemens having been made to date. It is understood that Zygimantas “Nukkye” Chmieliauskas and Wassim “Kelogz” Cista are at risk of being dropped, with the German roster having failed to live up to expectation at the EMEA Last Chance qualifier.

Why Nukkye & Kelogz Are at Risk of Being Dropped by G2

Nukkye and Kelogz both have a low agent pool, while they also play their best with a duelist agent. As a result of the current VALORANT meta being single-duelist, competing with a double-duelist is difficult. It could well be that G2 looks to bring in a more dynamic replacement, although neither will be confident of keeping their place.

While G2 is one of the best-known organizations in the European Esports scene, it has been anything but smooth sailing for them over recent times. Their poor showing at the VALORANT Champons Tour Stage 2 led to the departures of Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski, Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks, and Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt.

How G2 Missed Out on the VALORANT Champions 2021

The org moved quick to replace the trio by bringing in nukkye, Auni “AvovA” Chahade, and Jose Luis Aranguren “koldamenta” Herrero. With such players having taken to their new surroundings with relative ease, the team put on a good showing at the Berlin Masters, where they finished 3rd/4th. However, the promising results didn’t last long, with G2 having missed out on the VALORANT Champions 2021 at the final opportunity.

Despite starting the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier well, G2 quickly unravalled. They ended up in third position, having been beaten 2-0 by Guild Esports in the upper bracket final. Guild would ultimately come unstuck against Team Liquid in the Grand Final. It is such results that have led to another planned roster rebuild. We will bring further updates as and when we get them, with the next few weeks likely to be very busy for G2.
