Ninjas in Pyjamas has announced the arrival of Adam “ec1s” Eccles, with the Brit having been added to the organization’s VALORANT roster. Ec1s departed Team Liquid back in May, before enjoying a brief stint with NoPoaching. The 21-year-old will now act as in-game leader for NiP, with Kévin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans having been forced to take a break from competing due to injury.

Ex6TenZ will instead work alongside coach Emil “eMIL” Sangreen, focusing upon his recovery at the same time. The Belgian has been benched, however it is expected that he will return once he is ready. Ec1s began his VALORANT career as the captain of the fish123 roster, who won a handful of European events.

Why NiP signed ec1s

Such success led to Team Liquid signing the former CS:GO pro, where ec1s finished as runners up at the Red Bull Home Ground tournament at the beginning of the year. Speaking on his latest venture, ec1s stated that:
“It’s a great feeling and an honor to be joining NiP: an organization that I’ve watched since I was a little kid many years ago. Seeing their legendary CS:GO rosters winning events, I always aspired to get there one day. Our roster is bursting with talent, experience, and has the right mixture to be the best. Our upcoming bootcamp in Serbia is a great opportunity to meet everyone and kick start off our journey together! I’m pumped.”

Meanwhile, NiP head coach eMIL has also had his say on the arrival, stating that: He’s ice-cold in all situations and a very good individually skilled IGL who merges with the guys effortlessly. It’s a tall task to take over as an IGL mid-tournament, but his calm nature is exactly what we need right now. What happened to Kevin is unfortunate, but I’m glad that he stays and works with me for the time being, making use of all the experience he possesses.”

Will the arrival of ec1s boost NiP?
NiP were looking to make roster changes following a tough start to the EU VALORANT Champions Tour Stage Three: Challengers One, where they were knocked out before the main event following defeats against both Team Finest and Alliance. Benjamin “vicious” Guilotte was used in place of Ex6Tenz during the event for some matches.

Their lineup will now be made up by ec1s, Egor “chiwawa” Stepanyuk, Yaroslav “Jady” Nikolaev, Emir “rhyme” Muminovic and Charles “CREA” Beauvois. With just four spots remaining in the Challengers Playoffs, NiP face an uphill battle in qualifying, especially given that the likes of Fnatic and Team Liquid are still in the running.
