Team Vitality has secured its place in the VALORANT Champions 2026 playoffs after defeating LOUD 2-0 in the Group B winners’ match in Shanghai.
The European roster opened the series with a convincing 13-7 win on Ascent before surviving a marathon second map on Summit, where Vitality eventually closed out a 19-17 overtime victory.
The result sends Vitality directly into the knockout stage while LOUD must take the longer route through Group B.
Vitality Controls Ascent
Ascent was Vitality’s map pick, and the EMEA squad looked comfortable from the start.
LOUD found individual rounds but never managed to disrupt Vitality’s control of the map for long.
Vitality closed the opener 13-7, giving the team a much more comfortable beginning than it had in its first Champions match against Global Esports.
That opening series went all three maps before Vitality escaped with a 2-1 victory.
Summit Turns Into a 36-Round Battle
LOUD responded on Summit.
The Brazilian side looked far more competitive on its own pick, and neither team could create enough separation to close the map in regulation.
The result was a lengthy overtime battle.
After 36 total rounds, Vitality finally broke through with a 19-17 victory to complete the sweep.
The ability to finish the map is particularly significant for a Vitality team that has repeatedly struggled to convert leads into series wins this season.
Vitality’s Star-Heavy Roster Delivers
Vitality’s lineup includes:
- Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen
- Dawid “PROFEK” Święć
- Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev
- Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov
- Ștefan “Sayonara” Mîtcu
With players such as Derke, Chronicle and Jamppi, expectations have been high throughout the season.
Results have not always matched the talent on paper.
Vitality entered Champions after back-to-back 1-2 losses against Enterprise Esports and Fire Flux Esports in the EMEA Stage 2 playoffs.
Even its Champions opener against Global Esports became uncomfortable after Vitality nearly allowed a late comeback on the deciding map.
The clean win over LOUD is therefore one of its most convincing recent results.
LOUD Still Has Another Chance
LOUD is not eliminated.
The team opened Champions with a 2-0 victory over EDward Gaming and can still qualify through the remaining Group B path.
Vitality, however, can now focus entirely on the playoffs.
The VALORANT Champions 2026 group stage continues through October 4, with the knockout phase beginning October 7 in Shanghai.
The tournament features a $2.25 million prize pool and serves as the final international event of the 2026 VCT season.
For Vitality, the first objective is complete. The bigger question is whether a roster that has repeatedly stumbled in elimination matches can finally carry its talent deep into the biggest tournament of the year.
