Ubisoft may have hinted at the imminent arrival of news surrounding the Splinter Cell franchise.

In a tweet, the company posted a screenshot from a video of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory out of the blue, and also used a hashtag to indicate that the game franchise was being referenced. The reason for this is unknown.

Fans are hoping that this means something related to Splinter Cell is planned for next week. For example, the Summer Game Fest live show will be broadcast on Friday, June 6, followed by a Future Game Fest livestream the next day and a new Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday. Ubisoft has not announced any presentations yet, but something may be revealed in the above-mentioned presentations. The complete schedule of upcoming live streams can be found here.

Ubisoft announced in 2021 that it is working on a remake of the 2002 stealth game Splinter Cell. A year later, it was reported that the story was being rewritten for a more modern audience, but since then, it has been fairly quiet around the remake. Last fall, Insider Gaming claimed to have heard that the game is still in development. Last fall, it was also revealed that the Splinter Cell movie has been canceled.
