According to a report from ESPN’s Jacob Wolf, TSM are looking to sign mid laner Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage as a replacement for Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, who recently retired. The North American organization would be bringing in one of the best mid laners in the LCS should the deal for PowerOfEvil go through, however nothing has been made official as yet.

Following Bjergsen’s switch to coach of the TSM League of Legends team has left them short in terms of their active squad, with SoloMid having moved quickly to identify their preferred candidate to replace the Dane. PowerOfEvil is undoubtedly one of the leading mid laners in the LCS scene, with the German set to switch FlyQuest for TSM when the free agency window opens on November 16.

Why PowerOfEvil Chose TSM Over Evil Geniuses

It is believed that PowerOfEvil has turned down Evil Geniuses in order to sign for TSM, who have been “aggressive” in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, according to the report from Wolf. Ahead of the 2021 LCS Spring Split, the former Misfits and OpTic Gaming player expressed his desire for a new challenge.

Schrage spent a little over a year with FlyQuest, who finished in the top 12 at the World Championships last month, the best finish of all the North American teams, along with Team Liquid. It remains to be seen what the move would mean for FlyQuest, who recently gave Santorin permission to find a new team. The Dane has made no secret of his desire to play in the LEC or LCS.

Bjergsen is arguably the best player in TSM’s history, with the 24-year-old having moved into coaching following what was a calamitous performance at the Worlds this year. TSM eventually finished in 16th place, failing to win a match, despite being the North American No.1 seed.

What Those Involved Have Had to Say on the Potential Deal

PowerOfEvil took to Twitter to provide an update on his future, posting: “I have been given permission by FlyQuest ahead of time to explore my opportunities before becoming a Free Agent on November 16th. Looking for opportunities in LCS/LEC.”

This followed news that the German had notified the team that he would be signing for TSM on Tuesday, having chosen them over Evil Geniuses. We will await official confirmation from all parties, however we may have to wait until the free agency period kicks off.
