The International 2026 has produced a first for competitive Dota 2. All four teams remaining in the tournament represent Eastern Europe, giving the region complete control of the championship race in Shanghai.
Team Spirit, BetBoom Team, PARIVISION and Team Yandex are the final four organizations still competing for the Aegis of Champions after Nigma Galaxy became the last non-Eastern European team eliminated.
The result guarantees that TI 2026 will end with another major international title for the region and marks the first time in The International’s history that every team in the top four comes from Eastern Europe.
BetBoom eliminate Nigma to complete historic top four
The historic lineup was finalized after BetBoom Team defeated Nigma Galaxy 2-1 in the lower bracket.
Nigma had entered the series as the last remaining team capable of preventing an entirely Eastern European final four. BetBoom ultimately survived the best-of-three and continued its lower-bracket run.
The remaining teams are:
- Team Spirit
- BetBoom Team
- PARIVISION
- Team Yandex
Their progression means several other traditionally powerful regions have already been removed from championship contention.
Western Europe lost its final representative when Nigma exited, while teams from China, Southeast Asia and other regions had already fallen earlier in the tournament.
For the first time since The International began in 2011, the entire top four is controlled by organizations from one Eastern European competitive ecosystem.
Spirit remain in contention for another Aegis
Team Spirit are the most decorated organization among the four remaining teams.
The roster entered TI 2026 with significant championship expectations and once again finds itself deep in the tournament despite an uneven path through earlier stages.
Spirit opened the Main Event by sweeping 1win 2-0, with Yatoro producing a record-breaking Lone Druid performance. The team later fell into the lower bracket but survived long enough to remain part of the final four.

Spirit’s continued presence also gives the organization another opportunity to add to one of the strongest modern legacies in professional Dota 2.
PARIVISION and Yandex fight for first Grand Final place
The upper-bracket side features PARIVISION against Team Yandex.
Both teams have produced impressive tournament runs, but their paths have been different.
PARIVISION entered the Main Event as one of the strongest teams in the field and defeated BetBoom before continuing through the upper bracket.
Team Yandex has become one of the more notable stories of TI 2026. After an inconsistent Swiss Stage, the roster survived elimination and then defeated Team Liquid 2-0 in its opening Main Event series.
The upper-bracket meeting carries enormous importance:
- The winner advances directly to the TI 2026 Grand Final
- The loser drops into the lower-bracket final
- Both teams are guaranteed at least a top-three finish
That also means one Eastern European organization will already be waiting in Sunday’s championship match before the final lower-bracket games are played.
BetBoom and Spirit face elimination pressure
The other side of the bracket is considerably less forgiving.
BetBoom and Spirit must continue through the lower bracket, where one lost series ends the tournament immediately.
BetBoom reached this point after eliminating Nigma, while Spirit’s route has included both dominant victories and difficult setbacks.
Only one of them can continue toward the lower-bracket final.
That creates a familiar regional matchup between two teams whose players know each other extremely well from years of competition across Eastern European leagues, international tournaments and ranked play.
Experience could therefore matter as much as drafting.
Both teams have enough mechanical talent to win TI, but they no longer have any room for a poor series.
Eastern Europe’s Dota strength reaches new level
Eastern European teams have been central to The International for years.
Natus Vincere won the inaugural tournament in 2011 and reached the next two Grand Finals. Team Spirit later added two Aegis victories and helped establish a new generation of elite players from the region.
TI 2026 takes that influence further.
Previous editions frequently featured multiple teams from China, Western Europe, North America or Southeast Asia deep into the bracket. This year, the final phase has become entirely regional.
The achievement is particularly notable because the four organizations represent different structures and competitive histories rather than one dominant organization repeatedly defeating weaker domestic rivals.
Assessment
An all-Eastern European top four is one of the clearest indicators yet of where competitive Dota 2’s strongest concentration of talent currently sits.
That does not mean every other region suddenly lacks elite teams. Liquid, Falcons, Nigma and several Chinese organizations all demonstrated competitive moments throughout TI 2026.
The difference is that none survived into the final four.
Spirit bring championship history. BetBoom arrive through the lower bracket with momentum. PARIVISION have looked like one of the strongest teams across the event, while Yandex have transformed a difficult group stage into a genuine title challenge.
There are now only four teams and four matches left before the Aegis is awarded on August 23.
Whatever happens next, TI 2026 has already produced one historical result: Eastern Europe has completely taken over the final weekend.
