The University of Warwick and Esports Insider launched ESI Next Gen, a one-and-a-half-day event focused on esports and video games in education.

About ESI Next Gen

Esports Insider and the University of Warwick developed the first ESI Next Gen conference. With this event, they plan to bring together esports and video game professionals with the leaders of UK universities and colleges. In this way, they will generate discussions about the skills that the industry can offer to young people.

The event will offer different content related to the esports sector, focusing on education. Furthermore, it will also be an excellent networking opportunity for those students who wish to join the industry.

When does ESI Next Gen take place?

The conference is expected to be held at the university’s Esports Center on March 22-23, 2023. Where a wide variety of interactive workshops will be offered and networking opportunities created.

  • Tournament operators
  • Regional government

There will be over 30 presenters and over 250 attendees for the first iteration of ESI Next Gen. There will be over nine live sessions.

Comments about ESI Next Gen

ESI’s CEO and founder, Sam Cooke, stated:

“We are delighted to be working with the University of Warwick for our first inaugural ESI Next Gen. This event will provide a great opportunity to explore and promote the collaborative relationship between the esports and video game industries and educational institutions to create a strong foundation for the new emerging talent.”

On the other hand, the University of Warwick’s director of esports, Jack Fenton, adds:

“This is a huge landmark for Warwick as co-creating the ESI: Next Gen concept has been an exciting strategic goal for both us and for Esports Insider. I know that this will be the Esports Centre’s biggest and most impactful event to-date, and we’re really proud to be acting as a catalyst for the creative and digital sector. I can’t wait to see the collaboration that spins out of this event!”

Other ESI Next Gen details

The event will feature two workshops and five panels, all intended to benefit educators, business leaders, and students alike. The conference will examine leadership in esports and gaming education, curriculum development challenges, opportunities for graduates, policy considerations, and industry expansion.

The session, “Pathways to Establishing a Career and Company in Grassroots Youth Esports,” will be led by the Esports Coaching Academy, which offers participants helpful information and tools about the grassroots esports market and how to start a career and business in it.

There will be a discussion on the following subjects:

  • The current state of youth esports
  • Employment options
  • Business opportunities
  • Best practices in grassroots esports

On March 22, 2023, the event will kick off with a networking social and the finals of Lions Clash, a VALORANT competition of UK universities and colleges.
