Top 5 favorites of PGL Arlington Major

PGL Arlington Major 2022 starts this Thursday, August 4, and will see 17 of some of the best Dota 2 teams compete for glory, money, and a chance to secure a top 12 DPC position that guarantees a direct invite to The International 2022.

All of the 17 teams are strong. But relative to each other, some are considerably stronger than others. And even among the best, there are a few that are arguably more likely to win the trophy at this Dota 2 Major.

PGL Arlington Major Favorites

OG

OG will benefit from the vast experience of Sebastien “Ceb” Debs, who will stand in for Mikhail “Misha” Agatov. In this formula, OG won the previous Dota Pro Circuit Major. So it’s hard not to regard them as one of the big favorites.

Team Spirit

Team Spirit are the TI champions and their roster is identical to the one that won the Aegis of Champions last Autumn. At their most recent tournament, Riyadh Masters 2022, Spirit finished second after losing to PSG.LGD in the Grand Final. Overall, the CIS squad occupies the 11th position in the DPC rankings.

PSG.LGD clearly proved at Riyadh Masters that they are one of the strongest Dota 2 teams in the world. Given that their roster is currently ranked second globally and has remained unchanged throughout the 2021-2022 season, the odds of PSG.LGD winning the Arlington Major are high.

Team Liquid

Team Liquid have one of the strongest carry players in the world (Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen) and all the motivation they could need to get at least a top-eight finish at this tournament. Right now, the Europeans are ranked 13th globally and must obtain at least a few hundred points to guarantee themselves a direct invite to The International 11.

Evil Geniuses

“The fifth team on this list of favorites is Evil Geniuses. In this formula, with Tal “Fly” Aizik as their captain, EG obtained a lot of impressive results. If everything goes as usual for EG, they should finish this tournament in third place.

At the moment, EG’s spot at TI is at risk. The NA team occupies the ninth position with 1052 points. A top eight result at the Arlington Major would solve this problem.
