The rising trend of fast-food and gaming collabs

Following the successful Diablo Immortal promotion back in 2022, Burger King stores in Japan are currently running a Diablo 4 promo offering a Lilith Spicy Tomato Double Whopper.

With Diablo 4 launching this summer, fans of the game and the burger chain can look forward to another savory treat.

Lilith Whopper for Japanese Diablo fans

The latest Diablo fast food promotion started in December 2022 in Japan. Similar to the previous Diablo Immortal promotion, Burger King Japan has created a brand new burger for fans of the series to feast on for a limited time — the Lilith Spicy Tomato Double Whopper.

Reddit user superbeefy pointed out a poster for the double-meat cheeseburger, which is priced at 1,420 yen (or over $10). Suffice to say, this Diablo burger with cheese isn’t exactly cheap — just like anything with Blizzard.

Diablo 4 burger king

The Reddit post points to two more burgers featured in the new Burger King Japan and Diablo 4 promotion. For 1,390 yen, customers in Japan can buy a Diablo burger with beef and chicken patty. The third variant at the same price seems to have everything that the more expensive Lilith burger has, just no veggies.

Unfortunately, the promotion is only available to Japanese Burger King visitors and anyone else gets nothing. But at least the long-awaited release of Diablo 4 is imminent, with a scheduled date of June 6.

Diablo Garlic Double Cheeseburger

This isn’t the first promotion Burger King Japan is running in collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo title. The two companies joined forces in 2022 for a Diablo Immortal promotion, bringing fans a Diablo Garlic Double Cheeseburger.

Those who purchased the limited-time Diablo Garlic Double Cheeseburger received two 100% beef patties topped with smoked dried flakes, spicy sauce, and four slices of cheese.

McDonald’s X Overwatch 2

Burger King is not the only fast food chain to collaborate with gaming titles. For the release of Overwatch 2 last October, McDonald’s started a collaboration with Blizzard in Australia and a couple of other countries, where you could unlock the Epic Lightning Tracer Skin if you ordered a menu.

Of course, it’s a stereotype that gamers love to eat fast food, however, restaurants and game publishers are taking advantage of that. The target group are young people who probably like to play games anyway, so it is questionable whether, as a fast food chain, you should tempt youth with offers that sometimes take buying three menus in order to get a skin.
